Earlier this month it was revealed that Zachary Quinto, the "new" Spock in the Star Trek movie revival, would voice the Emergency Medical Hologram tutorial for Star Trek Online. Today, IGN is reporting that the MMO will also be going old school as it has recruited the original Spock, Leonard Nimoy, to contribute voice work as well.

The article states that Nimoy would provide the game's introductory voice over and will also provide voices for "key scenes and events in-game." However the report, nor IGN's video showing Nimoy in the recording studio, does not make clear if Nimoy will be portraying Spock himself in the game.

Zachary Quinto, who played Spock in the recent Star Trek movie, is lending his voice talents to the upcoming Star Trek Online MMO. Although his game character is the Emergency Medical Hologram (EMH) that guides new players through the tutorial area, it should be noted that a virtual reproduction of Spock's personality is included in its programming. However, it's one out of twenty, so this hologram has quite a party going on in its brain. Players will have a chance to boldly head into the final frontier on February 2, 2010 - when the game is scheduled to release.

Last Saturday actor Zachary Quinto revealed at the Spike TV Video Game Awards that he would be voicing a role in the upcoming MMO Star Trek Online. Today the game's publisher Atari revealed the role that Quinto would be handling in the game and, sadly, it won't be as Spock, the character he played in the Star Trek movie revival this year.

Instead Quinto will be the voice of the Emergency Medical Hologram in the game (basically the role that actor Robert Picardo handled in the Star Trek: Voyager TV series). In the game, the EMH will serve to assist the player through the tutorial section of the game. Of course we suspect that even more Trek actors might be making appearances in the game. We will keep you posted as things develop.

During an awards presentation at the Spike TV Video Game Awards, actor Zachary Quinto revealed that he would be the "voice" for Star Trek Online, the upcoming MMO title from developer Cryptic Studios and publisher Atari. Quinto did not make clear if he would just be an unnamed voice in the game or if he would be reprising his role of Spock in the recent movie revival.

Besides playing Spock, Quinto is best known for his role as the complex super villain Sylar in NBC's Heroes TV series. Hopefully we will learn more about his role in Star Trek Online in the near future.
