World Supremacy, the global strategy game that was first announced over a year ago, is now available to purchase and download from publisher Shrapnel Games. The title comes from developer Malfador Machinations, who is best known for its work on the long running Space Empires series of space strategy games.

World Supremacy is designed to be a pure turn-based strategy war game (no dipomacy options here) as players fight with modern weapons, including nukes and even neutron bombs. There's also a multiplayer mode that supports up to eight players. You can purchase the game now for $29.95 or you can add $3.95 to the price to enable an Extended Download service that lets players re-download the game for two years.

The game was announced over a year ago but today World Supremacy has found a publisher. Shrapnel Games has announced today that it will publish the global-themed strategy game title from Space Empires developer Malfador Machinations.

The old school strategy game, with the appropriate old school graphical look, the mutiplayer oriented title will let up to eight players fight over each other for control of the entire world with land, air, and sea units (and yes, nukes can be involved). The game is also supposed to be mod friendly so according to the press release any type of map can be made, saying, "Want to fight over the real world? Middle Earth? The world of the Destroymen series? Create and conquer. " The title went into closed beta testing earlier this month. World Supremacy is scheduled for release sometime later this year.

Over a year ago the development team at Malfador Machinations (the folks behind the long running Space Empires series) announced its next game, a modern worldwide strategy title called World Supremacy. This week the developer's official web site announced that it was taking sign ups to beta test the title.

Little is still known about World Supremacy at this stage. The official web page just has a few screenshots and a possible release date for the third or fourth quarter of 2010. The dev team is letting people sign up for the beta test by filling out a form and then emailin it back to the team. People will be picked for the beta via a lottery and the lottery's results are planned for release by next week.

The development team at Malfador Machinations are best known for their work on the long running Space Empires series. The turn based space strategy game series released its fifth title back in 2006 but now the company is taking a break and working on an all new strategy title, World Supremacy.

Aside from some screenshots which seem to show off a lot of text-based gameplay, little is known about World Supremacy at the moment other than it appears to be exactly what the title hints it will be about; a modern day "conquer the world" game..
