Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine video dev diary gets bloody

The Warhammer 40,000 franchise has been made into many pC and console games before but none have been quite like what developer Relic and publisher THQ are trying to with the upcoming Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine.

The first video developers diary for the third person action game has been released and shows off a lot of very bloody gameplay as the Space Marine that you will get to control pretty much shoots, kicks, and slices his way through a sea of different kinds of Orks. Team members from Relic also talk about the game's storyline, the different types of Orks the player will encounter and much more. The game itself is due for release this August.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine due out in August

The release date for developer Relic's next major game, Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine, has been narrowed down a bit. The third person action game from publisher THQ was previously referred to as coming out sometime this summer but today the company said the title is now due out sometime in August.

As we reported on earlier this week, players will not only have to fight off an invasion of Orks on an alien planet in the game but they will also have to deal with another threat; the dreaded Chaos Space Marines in various and very deadly forms such as the Renegade Guard in the above screenshot.

Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine to feature Chaos Space Marines

There hasn't been a whole lot of info about Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine beyond the basics; the third person action game has you as a Space Marine basically shooting and cutting his way through an Ork planetary invasion. Now Destructoid is reporting that the game will also feature Chaos Space Marines as foes to fight in the Relic Entertainment-developed game.

The article also has a quick chat game director Raphael van Lierop who stated that there will be a number of different Chaos Space Marines to kill. Those enemies will be "equipped with a variety of heavy weapon" and "some can pull out melee weapons and engage you in close quarters." Hopefully we will learn more about Space Marine before publisher THQ sends it out the door sometime this summer.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine latest game confirmed for Steamworks

Developer Relic Entertainment only recently confirmed that its upcoming third person action game Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine would be coming to the PC. Now comes word via Shacknews that the title is the latest game that will use Valve's Steamworks platform for things like auto-updates, achievements and more.

Even though the game was just recently revealed as coming to the PC platform, PC Gamer reports that the PC will actually be the lead platform for Space Marine. And according to Relic's Andy Lang Valve's Steam service has made PC gaming more of a viable platform for games in general. He states, "Steam has changed things. It's made it easy just to buy and download games. It just works." The game is currently scheduled for release sometime in 2011.

THQ reports latest financial results
