In CrimeCraft, players have a chance to participate in gang warfare to build up a reputation and work their way up the ranks of a criminal organization. The MMO recently announced that it would adopt a free-to-play model to complement a premium subscription service. Additionally, there is a major content update expected to release later this month.

Vogster Entertainment's FPS MMO CrimeCraft has been available in its final launch form for a few weeks now but this week the developer/publisher announced their first plans to expand the game with new content along news of a new player tournament. The tournament begins today and runs through October 15. After the tournament players listed in the leaderboards will be put into a rando drawing for prizes. The grand prize will be a new Alienware Area 51 M17x laptop.

The first major content update will be released sometime in October and will include a new NPC gang, a new PvE mode where players go up against AI gang bosses across 14 maps, a new loot system for PvP modes and an in-game newspaper that will "contain player-generated content and proclaim the victories and defeats" of CrimeCraft players.

CrimeCraft, an online action shooter where players work their way up the ranks of a criminal organization, officially launches today. These videos mark the occasion by showcasing some of the abilities that will be available to players. Powers range from stealthy ones like Active Camouflage (shown after the jump) to Spray and Pray (shown above), which mows down anything that's in your way with bullets. All will help players get ahead in their gang war.

CrimeCraft, the upcoming action MMO that lets players rise up the ranks of a crime syndicate, knows that it takes more than guts and determination to establish a reputation. Sometimes, a few choice clothes go a long way. Vogster, the game's publisher, recently signed a deal with Atticus Clothing, a clothing line primarily geared toward musicians, so that players can outfit their avatars with Attacus brand T-Shirts. The name-brand clothing will be available for purchase as in-game items so players can out fit their whole crew if they want to. Pre-order customers will also receive the apparel as part of a bonus. The game is scheduled to release on August 25th.

As we approach the release of the FPS MMO CrimeCraft on August 25, developer/publisher Vogster Entertainment has announced that various digital download sites will offer special pre-order and launch bonuses. The download sites include the official CrimeCraft.com site itself along with Steam, Direct2Drive and Best Buy's Digital Store (Best Buy remains the only place US customers can purchase the game via a brick and mortar retail store)

You can check out the various digital download options for CrimeCraft after the jump. They include items like special temporary power-ups for your character, unique in-game clothing items, access to the game three days before the official launch and more.

There's been quite a few announcements of MMO games going into open or closed beta test and now it looks like another such title is beginning to let outsiders play on their servers. Vogster Entertainment's FPS MMO CrimeCraft has quietly announced on their official forums that their closed beta servers are now open to anyone who has been invited to play in the beta test.

This urban-themed MMO (which we previewed at GDC last March) hasn't gotten a lot of press attention but the grim-and-gritty look combined with its use of Epic's Unreal Engine 3 makes the game look a lot better than some of its comtemporaies. We will get even more info on CrimeCraft when we get to see the game live at E3 in two weeks.

Vogster Entertainment is trying to join the FPS free-to-play craze with their upcoming Unreal Engine 3 based title CrimeCraft. The developer-publisher has been sending out regular media updates to the press and we've added the latest screenshots they have released from the game in our growing gallery.

The game's official web site has also gotten a makeover with lots more info about CrimeCraft. The game will not only allow for a persistent FPS experience (leveling up, more weapons unlocks and the like) but also features crafting abilities. Yep, just like in a number of other more traditional MMO games CrimeCraft will allow you to make weapons and items. The game is due for release later this summer. A while back, Epic Games announced that it had licensed its Unreal Engine 3 tech to a little known game developer called Vogster to create an urban MMO shooter called CrimeCraft. It's been over two years since that announcement but now Vogster has come out of hiding to reveal some details and the first screenshots from their game.

CrimeCraft has a little bit of Escape from New York in its premise as criminals are dumped into the fictional Sunrise City to fend for themselves. Players will be able to battle each other and AI enemies in multiplayer matches but their character is persistant in the game world and can add skills and trades by doing certain jobs. There's also a crafting system for weapons and items and even a black market to buy, sell and trade items. CrimeCraft is expected to launch sometime this spring or summer but there's no word yet on a beta sign-up.
