CrimeCraft's Bleedout event coming in weekly installments starting in December

Last month, Vogster Entertainment announced plans to expand its fire-to-play first person shooter MMO CrimeCraft with an expansion/event called Bleedout that tied into an upcoming graphic novel of the same name. Now Vogster has revealed more about the Bleedout expansion for the game with word that it will begin in December with the release of a 10 episode weekly series.

Each episode will contain several missions for the gamer to complete in a storyline that sees the CrimeCraft world "thrown into chaos by a global economic disaster. " The episodic expansion will add a total of between 20 to 30 hours of gameplay to CrimeCraft and will scale to fit the level of the player's character. Players who play CrimeCraft as a free-to-play shooter can get each episode for $2. The episodes will be free for Premium and Deluxe CrimeCraft players.

CrimeCraft expansion to get comic book tie-in

Earlier this year we reported that Vogster Entertainment's first person shooter MMO CrimeCraft would be getting some kind of single player expansion. While not much has been revealed about said expansion this week it was announced that it would be getting a comic book tie-in.

Archaia Entertainment announced on Friday that it would publish BleedOut, a graphic novel that's tied into the world of CrimeCraft, where oil is in short suppled. The graphic novel is due out sometime in 2011 and will feature artwork from a number of notable comic book artists including Tim Bradstreet, Howard Chaykin, Trevor Hairsine and more. You can check out a preview of the comic at the BleedOut web site. The CrimeCraft expansion itself is still due for release sometime this fall.

CrimeCraft to get big content update soon

About a year ago today, developer-publisher Vogster Entertainment released CrimeCraft, a first person shooter-themed MMO that's similar in some ways to Realtime Worlds' title All Points Bulletin. Like APB, CrimeCraft did not get good reviews and sales were slow. The developer suffered from mass layoffs and quickly turned the game into a free-to-play title.

A year later, CrimeCraft is still up and running and in a recent update on the game's official web site it announced plans for a large content update that will be released later this month. The update will include 14 new weapons including "assault rifles, LMGs, sniper rifles and SMGs." New player abilities will be added and many of the game's current playable abilities will get some changes. In addition, the game will now have "level gates". That means at a low level players will only have access to a few abilities, while the middle and high levels will increase the number of accessible abilities.

Back in April it was announced that CrimeCraft would be getting some kind of single player campaign but so far there's no word on when or even if such a feature will be added to the game.

CrimeCraft to get single player campaign?

Last summer Vogster Entertainment launched their first person shooter MMO CrimeCraft. It began as a typical MMO with a retail release and a monthly subscription fee but a few months later it switched directions and became a free-to-play game. Now there's word that yet another major change to the game is in the works.

Newsarama chatted with Vogster's Mike Kennedy (misidentified as working for Dark Horse Comics) at this weekend's C2E2 convention. At the very end of the interview Kennedy announces Vogster is "working on adding a single player aspect to that title. It's an MMO, right now it's very PvP focused, but were adding this single players campaign aspect that we're going to flesh out into this great big awesome episodic thing. " There's no word on when this new addition will be released with Kennedy stating, "It's very early in the works."

CrimeCraft latest game banned in Australia

Australia's video game ratings board have yet again denied to rate a PC game effectively banning the game from sale in that country. The latest title is CrimeCraft, the first person shooter MMO from developer/publisher Vogster Entertainment. After beginning its life in the US as a retail title with a monthly fee, Vogster has since switched over to a free-to-play business model for the game.

It's currently unknown why CrimeCraft was not given a rating in Australia although we are betting the title's violent content has something to do with it. As the web site Refused-Classification.com points out CrimeCraft is the fifth game title to be denied a rating in that country in 2009. Three of those games (Necrovision, Left 4 Dead 2 and the WiiWare game Sexy Poker) have since been given a rating by the country's classification board after edits were made to each title. The other game, the RPG title Risen, is still banned for sale in Australia.
