Dungeon Siege movie sequel set has propane explosion that injures six workers

No one likes to hear about an accident that hurts people, not even on a movie set that's being directed by Uwe Boll. However that's what happened on the set of Boll's latest film, In the Name of The King 2, a sequel to the film that's loosely based on the Dungeon Siege game franchise.

Entertainment Weekly reports that a leaking propane container caused an explosion Tuesday on the set 45 minutes outside of Vancouver. The explosion injured six workers with minor burns and one broken leg as a result. The reports states that there will be no criminal investigation of the accident.

Awful Dungeon Siege movie gets Uwe Boll-directed sequel; ditches "Dungeon Siege" from title

In The Name Of The King: A Dungeon Siege Tale hit theaters with a massive thud back in January 2008. The film, based extremely loosely on Gas Powered Games' action-RPG series, only made $10 million worldwide in theaters compared to its budget of about $40 million. Oh, and it was directed by Uwe Boll.

So with all of that, there should be no risk of Boll making a sequel, right? Wrong. Apparently In The Name Of The King 2 (ditching the Dungeon Siege title completely) will start filming with Boll again in the director's chair in 2011. Bloginity reports that Dolph Lundgren has the "honor" of playing the lead; a modern day man who gets somehow sucked back into time but is placed 50 years after the events of the first film. Except that he finds out he was actually the son of the character Jason Statham played in the first movie and then sent forward in time to escape some evil and .... oh, we already have a headache thinking about it.

Alone In The Dark 2 movie sequel coming to DVD

Earlier this week the US got the official DVD release of Far Cry, the latest butchering . . . er, video game-to-movie adaptation from director Uwe Boll. However it looks like one of his first such adaptation attempts has gotten a sequel.

That would be Alone in the Dark 2, which was first released in other parts of the world in 2008. The good news is that for this latest shot at adapting the survival horror game series Boll served just as a producer of this flick (he directed the first movie in 2005). The odd news is that the movie's lead character Edward Carby, played by Christian Slater in the first movie, has changed into Korean American actor Rick Yune for the sequel (he can be seen in the just released Ninja Assassin). The Wikipedia page for the movie states that the US DVD release is sometime this winter. You have officially been warned.

Uwe Boll's Far Cry movie released on DVD in US

Over a year ago, German movie theater audiences were subject to something that they were likely not prepared for; a movie adaptation of Far Cry directed by none other than Uwe Boll. Now that cinematic "masterpiece" heads to the US but thankfully movie theaters in this country won't have to deal with this piece of celluloid.

Nope. Instead the flick based on Crytek's debut first person shooter is headed straight to the DVD pile (and most likely in heavy rotation on cable channels a few months later). It's a shame. We actually think a Far Cry movie would be entertaining if handled by the right people, but based on trailers that we have seen online, this version looks like one of the bad SyFy Channel Saturday evening movies. The only good news? There's no Blu-Ray version. Seeing this in 1080p would most likely fry your eyes out.

Third Bloodrayne movie to begin production in January

Uwe Boll. You know him. You love to hate him. Now the director of not just some of the worst video game movies ever made but some of the worst films made, period, is getting things prepped to make a third flick based on the Terminal Reality-created Bloodrayne action-horror game franchise.

DreadCentral.com claims they got the info straight from Boll himself during a chat with the director at the American Film Market earlier this month. According to the article, the movie will be titled Bloodrayne 3: Warhammer and will begin production in January. Actress Kristanna Loken, who starred as the title character in the first Bloodrayne movie, will be wearing her vampire fangs once again for the third movie. Most interesting of all this third movie will be set during World War II which was also the time period for the first BloodRayne game. There's no word yet if the third flick will use any plot elements of the BloodRayne game.

Uwe Boll to appear in Postal 3 game

If you ever wanted to do something awful to film director Uwe Boll, you may get your chance. According to Eurogamer, Boll actually paid for the privilage to have his likeness put into Postal 3, the upcoming next game in Running With Scissors' action game series.

Boll, of course, directed the Postal movie that was released in 2008 and according to Running With Scissors head Vince Desi, "Uwe will be presented as himself and of course you can have fun with him, it's Postal!" Postal 3, which is being co-developed by Akella and uses the Source engine, does not yet have a release date.

Uwe Boll's game Tunnel Rats released on Steam

Uwe Boll. Even his name can cause the skin to crawl among film and game fans. As a director, he's responsible for some of the worst game-to-movie adaptations of all time (and that's saying something). However, Boll decided to do something a little different for Tunnel Rats. He not only directed the movie (about US soldiers in the Vietnam War) but supervised the making of the game version.

The movie Tunnel Rats hasn't been released stateside yet but this week the Steam service has the game version available for download for $19.99. The first person shooter from developer Replay Studios (creators of the recent WWII stealth action game Velvet Assassin) has you as a US soldier working with a squad to go through tunnels made by the Vietcong. Look for traps, snakes and a crazy German trying to tell you to stand on your mark (ok, we made that last one up but that would actually be pretty cool.

GameDaily has their 2009 resolutions ready

Have you got your 2009 resolutions already set up? If not perhaps you need a little help in deciding what you need to improve in the new year. GameDaily has two such resolution lists it has provided for us today.

One of them is for gamers themselves to consider taking up in 2009. Gamers are asked to embrace creativity and innovation in games while at the same time asked not to pirate those PC games it likes. Maybe you can even play a game in a genre that you are normally not a fan of. Yet another 2009 resolution list is aimed at game developers. If you help to make games for a living perhaps you can do things in the new year like make mod tools available to gamers or mix up the usual settings of game locations. But whatever you do, please don't sell your game's movie rights to Uwe Boll...that's a one way ticket to oblivion right there.

Dungeon Siege movie gets extras for Blu-Ray edition

Hey, who ordered another Uwe Boll story? We did? Oh...sorry. However this is somewhat newsworthy. Boll's adaptation of Gas Powered Games' Dungeon Siege franchise, In The Name Of The King: A Dungeon Siege Tale, came out and quickly left theaters in January. The DVD came out this summber but the release of the Blu-Ray version on December 1 will have some extras that the DVD version didn't have.

High-Def Digest reports that the Blu-Ray port will contain an unrated "Director's Cut" of the movie that is not contained in the standard DVD version. This new cut will have a whopping 35 minutes of additional footage. The Blu-Ray version will also have a new commentary from Boll that also isn't in the DVD cut. Presumably he will tell us how great this movie is and how dumb the rest of us are for hating it. Both Blu-Ray and DVD versions will share a behind-the-scenes featurette, deleted scenes and trailers.

Uwe Boll's own video game gets first trailer

We mentioned Thursday that super duper film director Uwe Boll will have his latest film, the adaptation of Crytek's FPS Far Cry, debut in German theaters on October 2. However, he has a ton of upcoming projects in the works, including one that's been known for some time now. 1968 Tunnel Rats is being developed as both a movie and as a game at the same time and Gametrailers has the first video footage of the game portion of this project (Boll is reportedly heavily involved in the game's development.

Both the game and the upcoming movie are Vietnam War themed projects as US Army troops attempt to get the enemy out of their man-made tunnel bases. The game was developed by Replay Studios (the same folks behind 2009's Velvet Assassin) but Replay doesn't seem to want to be associated with this game; their recently relaunched web site has no mention at all of 1968 Tunnel Rats. The trailer states the game is coming out this fall but we suspect that's for Europe; there's no word on a US release for either the game or movie.
