Camp Fatal1ty: A lot better than rowing classes

Kids are out for the summer so their parents will likely push them against their will to go to summer camp. All that awful clean air, sun and "activities" are dreaded by their children. If you really want your kids to be happy to go to camp this summer, why not go to "Camp Fatal1ty"? Yes, your children can learn how to shoot each other via playing Epic Games' Unreal Tournament 3.

The camp, organized by the iD Gaming Academy at UCLA, Stanford University and Villanova University, will allow its participants to not only learn how to play multiplayer matches in UT3 with lessons developed by pro gamer Johnathan "Fatal1ty" Wendel but they will also learn how to make machinima and tour a major game development studio. When the camp is over participants will also get a Fatal1ty branded PC keyboard. Make sure to bring your life preserver.

New Unreal Tournament 3 level design contest announced

While Epic Games is holding their own massive Make Something Unreal mod creation contest for Unreal Tournament 3, mod design tutorial company 3D Buzz is holding a smaller contest of their own. It's called the Old School Level Design Contest and as the title suggests it's all about making the best UT3 level you can make; no custom artwork or any other mods are allowed.

The winner of the contest gets $1,000 cash along with a PS3 console, an autographed copy of UT3 and video reviews of your level by both 3D Buzz team members and Epic Games' design director Cliff (don't call me CliffyB) Bleszinski. This first contest is for Deathmatch levels only so open up that Unreal level editor and get cracking.

Unreal Tournament III 1.3 patch details

The 1.3 patch for Unreal Tournament III hasn't been released quite yet, but that didn't stop PlanetUnreal from digging for concrete details. Among the substantial list of fixes and additions are numerous bot improvements, several mod-specific collision detection issues, increased Aegia support, and cut/copy/paste functionality for the game's console.

While the list of tweaks and additions is quite long, most are individually minor. Collectively, though, the buggy UT3 should benefit greatly from all of the seemingly minute changes the patch will bring.

Steam drops price of UT3

If you are a fan of big muscles, large guns, and incredibly manly men, now is your time to shine. Unreal Tournament 3 has just dropped in price on Steam, going from $49.99 to $29.95. And it looks permanent. If your bloodlust for the incredible amounts of testosterone present in Gears of War 2 can't be restrained until it is released, UT3 isn't a bad alternative. And it's only 30 bucks!
