Mid-week PC game sales put some skip in your step

It's just Tuesday but the folks at Impulse and Steam have some nice mid-week sales for anyone with a few dollars in their pocket. Over at Steam, the week-long Sega game sale continues with one-day price cuts for Stormrise ($7.50), Space Siege and Universe at War: Earth Assault ($5 for each). And of course the big Sega bundle is still on sale for $89.99 until Monday.

Over at Impulse they have put a number of games on sale this mid week. Ironclad's space strategy title Sins of a Solar Empire is now just $9.99 for a limited time while Gas Powered Games's strategy title Demigod is also $9.99 for a limited time.

Direct2Drive offers up some early week PC game savings

The Direct2Drive PC gaming download site is wasting no time in offering up some new PC game sales for the first part of this week. From now until Tuesday you can grab the sci-fi RTS game Universe at War: Earth Assault for just $4.95. They are also offering the first Iron Man movie game for $4.95 through March 27.

Also on the price chopping block is Europa Universalis: Rome Gold which is on sale until Friday for, you guessed it, $4.95. Finally if you pre-order Mount and Blade Warband from Direct2Drive you will get instant access to the game's beta which will continue until the game is officially launched on March 30.

Get free game when ordering Aliens Vs Predator on Steam

In addition to updating the retro game Aliens Vs Predator Classic 2000, Steam has just given folks a chance to pre-order the new Aliens Vs Predator game from developer Rebellion and publisher Sega. However there's a nice bonus when you get the game from Steam. You will also get a free older game from Sega, Universe at War: Earth Assault.

This 2007 released sci-fi RTS game comes from developer Petroglyph and is one of the very few PC games that allows for cross-platform multiplayer gaming with its Xbox 360 counterpart with Games For Windows Live. Petroglyph is currently working on the upcoming free-to-play game Mytheon.

Steam cuts prices of more games in latest one day sale

If you don't want to go out today to spend that gift card you got for Christmas in a crowded mall why not use it online to get some savings on some PC games. Steam just added some new games that will have their prices cut for one day as part of their ongoing holiday sale.

For the next 23 hours you can download and purchase Torchlight for a mere $4.99. You can also get Universe at War Earth Assault for the same price. Also LUMINES Base plus the Advance Pack can be yours for just $2.99. Dragon Age: Origins is on sale for $37.49 with the Deluxe Edition on sale for $48.74. Prototype can be bought for $19.99. Finally a bundle of seven Star Wars games from LucasArts can be yours for $9.99.

Steam puts Universe at War on sale for just $4.99 this weekend

We've got one more weekend sale to tell you about today. The Steam game download service has put Universe at War: Earth Assault on sale for this weekend only for just $4.99, a 75 percent cut from its normal $19.99 price tag.

This 2007 released sci-fi RTS game was developed by Las Vegas-based Petroglyph and published by Sega. It remains one of only three PC games that can be played online with its Xbox 360 counterpart. Petroglyph is working on two upcoming projects; the strategy-RPG online game Mytheon for publisher True Games and a recently announced (but still unnamed) MMORTS game for Trion World Network

PC game weekend sales hit the web

It's Friday and that means bargain hunting for PC gamers has begun, as they are aiming to find some cheap title to buy and download. Here are some of the weekend's sales that are already live:

New Universe at War patch adds Xbox 360 cross-platform features

Petroglyph Games' sci-fi RTS title Universe at War: Earth Assault was released back in December 2007 for the PC but the Xbox 360 version was released last March. Both versions were supposed to be able to enable cross-platform multiplayer but neither had that capability . . . until now, that is. Petroglyph has finally released the patch that will allow PC players and Xbox 360 players of the game to battle each other online. This makes the game the third title that has such features (Shadowrun and Lost Planet Colonies are the other two)

The Petroglyph message boards have all of the details of the new PC patch which not only adds cross-platform multiplayer but has a number of balance changes and bug fixes for the game (Xbox 360 owners can download their own patch automatically via Xbox Live). You can download the new patch at Big Download along with the two previously released patches for the PC version of the game
