Football Manager 2011 to be released on November 9 in US

The exciting world (well, exciting for some people) of pro soccer management simulations will get its latest version in just over a month. Publisher Sega just announced that Football Manager 2011 now has a solid release date of November 9 for the PC and Mac for US gamers. (UK gamers get access on November 5) As we mention earlier this month pre-orders for the game will be able to download 20 classic Sega Genesis games for free.

One of the interesting new feature additions for the new version are the links to other web sites. Players can video a match and upload it to YouTube and also post the game's achievements to their Twitter accounts. The game will support Steamworks achievements as well

Blur to have Facebook support

Linking social networking web site Facebook directly to games seems to be a growing trend. We've already reported that StarCraft II will have intergrated Facebook support and today publisher Activision has announced that next week's release of the arcade racing game Blur will also have in-game Facebook support.

Hitting the "Share" button in the Bizarre Creations-developed game will allow Blur players to share things like in-game screenshots, stats and more on their Facebook account. You can also issue racing challenges from the game to your Facebook friends. Activision had previously announced that Blur would also support in-game Twitter messages.

"Fight your way through the streets of a zombie infested city to save the survivors of a disastrous chemical accident that changed most of the city's population into mindless brain hungry monsters. Blur to support in game "tweeting"

Activision is ramping up the marketing for their upcoming racing game Blur and today they send over word that the Bizarre Creations-developed title will feature in-game support for Twitter. Yes if you have a Twitter account you will be able to use that 140 character limit to tell the outside world how much you beat that noob in the game.

Activision recently announced that Blur would be coming out sometime in the second quarter of 2010. They also announced a multiplayer beta for the game would be coming out in March although as yet there's no official word if the beta will be released for the PC.

Turn your "tweets" into Klingon via Star Trek Online

We know that your life isn't complete. You have been waiting for something to happen so that you can say, "I can now die happy." Thanks to the folks at developer Cryptic Studios and publisher Atari that moment has happened. You can now turn your Twitter "tweets" into Klingon.

Yes you can now head to the tweetinklingon.com web site and tie in your Twitter account so that when you write something on the web page it comes out on your Twitter account in the language that Christopher Plummer once spoke in a movie. The whole thing is, of course, a clever way to promote the upcoming MMO Star Trek Online. So now that your life is complete, what will you do now?

Direct2Drive puts Prototype on sale for one day only

Direct2Drive is making gamers check their Twitter page for special deals and today they have one that might be of interest. For only day only they have put the downloadable PC version of Prototype on sale. Normally the open world action game from developer Radical Entertainment and publisher Activision is on sale for $49.95 but for now until the end of the day today the price has been knocked down by $10 to just $39.95.

This might be as good of a time as any to point out that Gamersgate's Twitter page keeps its users up to day with daily sales deals on their own download site. While they still have weekend deals you might want to keep an eye out on their page for any daily deals that might be of interest.

Twitter starts to invade . . . er, enter MMOs

There doesn't seem to be stopping Twitter from putting itself in, well, anywhere and everywhere. Even playing an MMO game isn't an escape from those 140 character messages. A new third party program called TweetCraft has allowed people to see "tweets" from their followers while playing Blizzard's hit game.

And that's not all. In a new post on the Champions Online web site, Cryptic Studios' Bill Roper states, "We're really excited to get in-game tweet testing out to our beta players. This feature is in initial testing stages and will most likely have issues." Will we see "tweets" while we play Modern Warfare 2? We wouldn't be surprised.

Wild speculation over (possible) Duke Nukem Forever tweet

Ah, Twitter. You are the current "cool Internet thing" of the month as mainstream media and almost everyone else seems to be using it. Among them: 3D Realms president George Broussard. In a recent message on his own Twitter site he posted up this message (complete and unedited):

Closing out a milestone this week. 71 more tasks to do and we started with probably 800-900. Been a good push. Next one starts Monday.

That tweet has apparently put several web sites in a tizzy as they posted up completely speculative articles about what it means. According to The Escapist, it means that 3D Realms' long-in-development shooter Duke Nukem Forever is "about 85% complete". What? Broussard only says they are closing out a milestone. We have no idea what milestone they have reached and what it might mean to the development of the entire game.

For that matter, did he even mention Duke Nukem Forever in that Twitter message (as ClanBase thinks they did)? Nope. It could be another project (3D Realms did release a Xbox Live Arcade port of Duke Nukem 3D last year). So for all of those sites who are saying the game is close to being done, we have to say, "Calm down" We think we will finally see the game . . . . someday. Just don't rely on Twitter to give that info to you.

Rumor: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 features leaked?

A few weeks ago we reported that Infinity Ward had launched their own Twitter web page which gave fans a chance to offer up suggestions for their still-not-officially-announced-but-everybody-know-they-are-working-on-it FPS sequel Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Now it appears that one person with some inside access might have let some info out of the bag about the upcoming game.

According to a post on the NeoGAF message boards an unknown play tester for the game posted up what was claimed to be some of the new features and content for Modern Warfare 2 on the Twitter page. The original Twitter post has been deleted and the poster banned but the feature list was reprinted on the NeoGAF boards. This is most definitely a rumor for now (which is why we won't even bother mentioning any specifics about what was supposedly revealed) but if you like speculation that might be true you can check out the list for yourself.
