Have some publishers missed out on not making a Twilight Saga movie game?

As The Twilight Saga: New Moon, the second movie in the hugely popular vampire-werewolf movie series, gets set for its DVD and Blu-Ray release on Saturday, some are wondering why game publishers haven't jumped at the chance to license the movie series from its studio Summit Entertainment. MCV quotes Games Investor Consulting analyst Nick Gibson as saying, "Given how hot a property it is, Twilight could easily present a seven-figure exploitation opportunity, especially if publishers look at taking it beyond retail gaming and considers network gaming."

While a Twilight game may seem on the surface to be a no-brainer, we respond with just one word: Avatar. Ubisoft's launch of the game based on James Cameron's sci-fi film was a sales dud for the publisher, despite being released two weeks before the film came out and turned into the single highest grossing movie in history.

The Sims 3 trailer catches Twilight fever

You can try to avoid the whirlwind or hype surrounding the release of the newest Twilight film, but you'll have a tough time doing it. Even The Sims 3 world has fallen for Twilight with this little parody video made using the game. Our question is: Where's the actual vampirism? We want to see fangs! Couldn't they borrow the animations and effects from The Sims 2 Night Life expansion?

Twilight MMO in the works

There's a line that most people would draw in the sand regarding whether or not something could become an MMO. Twilight is probably behind that line, with properties like Burn Notice or Family Guy flanking it. However, the wheels of corporate exploitation churn ever onwards, and in light of the successful movie adaptation, an MMO has been announced as being in-development by BrainJunk Studios.

Apparently you can play as a human, werewolf, or vampire (that sparkles!) in and around the town of Forks, Washington. There will be a journal system that allows you to travel back and forth in time as well as reflect on previous events in your character history. It all seems interesting enough... if only it wasn't Twilight.
