Trion announces plans for End of Nations comic from Wildstorm

Last month we reported that DC Comics' Wildstorm division would be releasing a four issue mini-series called The Telera Chronicles that would serve as a prequel story to Trion Worlds' upcoming fantasy MMO Rift: Planes of Telera. Today Trion Worlds sent over word that the other major MMO game it is publishing, the RTS title End of Nations, would also be getting its own Wildstorm produced comic. The comic, due out later this fall, will be written by Ricardo Sanchez and drawn by Yvel Guichet with covers by Chris Sprouse and is based on the game that's being developed by Petroglyph.

Trion Worlds will be giving out free "0" issues of both The Telera Chronicles and the End of Nations comic at the DC Comics booth during the San Diego Comic-Con next week. The "0" issues will only be available during Comic-Con.

Rift: Planes of Telara videos break through the cracks between dimensions

Rift: Planes of Telara is an upcoming fantasy massively-multiplayer online game that features a world that's both familiar and unlike anything anyone has seen before. As players adventure through these lands, they will encounter rifts, or breaks in the protective barrier between dimensions, where magic and creatures will pour through. The trailer above reveals the game and some of its features, but continue after the jump to watch a developer video that take an in-depth look at what the game is all about.

"A devastating magical eruption has tattered the veil between Telara and other planar dimensions. Perilous rifts occur when two planes intersect, allowing passage between different dimensions. Rift: Planes of Telara is a fantasy MMO role-playing game set in a dynamic world being torn apart by powerful rifts from other planes. No part of Telara is truly safe, as rifts between the planes unleash sudden invasions without notice."

End of Nations videos expand real-time strategy to massive proportions

Developed by Petroglyph, a studio comprised of many former Westwood Studios employees who worked on the original Command & Conquer, recently revealed development of End of Nations. End of Nations is a massively-multiplayer real-time strategy game where players can log in to a persistent world, assemble an army, and work cooperative or possibly against each other for dominance. The trailer above provides a quick rundown of some of the things players can expect from the game, but continue reading after the jump to watch a developer video that really gets in-depth on its features. The plot is inspired by modern day events, so End of Nations will be a new but recognizable world. Players can look forward to gigantic boss fights with machines that have multiple hard points and health bars to take out. The developers also state that solo play will be just as fulfilling, but that might be a little hard to imagine with bosses like that. No release date has been announced yet, but we're definitely interested in seeing this game in action at E3 next week.

Trion Worlds reveals more about collaboration with Syfy cable TV network

A couple of years ago, Trion World Networks announced they would be making an MMO in collaboration with the Sci-Fi TV cable channel where the game would be linked to a TV series on that network. Today Trion World Networks is called Trion Worlds and Sci-Fi has been rebranded as Syfy. However the game-TV series project is still alive and today Trion Worlds gave out a little more info on the game.

The title is being described as an third person action-MMO title "with visceral gun play. Both the game and the TV show will share "characters, alien races, organizations, environments, technologies, and more." Events in the TV show will influence the game and vice-versa. Some concept artwork for the game can be seen at Trion World's web site but there's no word yet on when the game or the TV show will launch.

Heroes of Telera gets name change to Rift: Planes of Telara

Three years after Trion World Networks announced their presence, the MMO game developer finally showed off their first game, the fantasy themed Heroes of Telera, at E3 last June. However after E3 the company chose to once again go into stealth mode on the title's development. Today the newly renamed Trion Worlds has also renamed their flagship game. Goodbye Heroes of Telera; hello Rift: Planes of Telera.

The name change is not just cosmetic; it also points out a big gameplay feature in the MMO. The game itself is set in a multiverse (or "nexus of planes" as the developer calls it) and players will be able to summon portals that serve as rift to these different planes anytime or place in the game world they wish. Rift: Planes of Telera is scheduled for a 2011 launch. You can get more info on the newly rechristened game at our sister site Massively.

Petroglyph's MMO RTS game End of Nations officially announced

Over a year ago Trion Worlds announced that developer Petroglyph would be using their game technology to make a MMO RTS game. Today that game was officially announced with the title of End of Nations. The game is set in the near future, in the mid-21st century, where a massive global superpower has effectively taken over the world with the help of high tech weapons

The game has the player playing as one of two factions, both of which are opposing this huge superpower. While players can play End of Nations as a regular RTS game with small and relatively quick multiplayer matches, they can also participate in the larger and persistent global campaign against the superpower. Matches can support up to 50 players in maps that are as large as 20 square miles. The game is expected to be released sometime in 2011.

Trion World Networks changes title to Trion Worlds

In 2006, a new MMO game developer called Trion World Networks was first announced. The company promised to develop technology and games that would revolutionize the MMO game space. Since its founding the company has been working mostly in secret on their games and projects. In 2009 it came out of its development hold briefly to show one of their games, the fantasy themed Heroes of Telera, at E3.

Today Trion World Networks, which has raised over $100 million in outside funding, announced that the company's name was changing slightly. It's now calling itself simply Trion Worlds. There's no word on why the company decided to effectively shorten their name but they are finally lifting the veil on their plans for their upcoming games. Check back later on the first details on those games.

Trion World Network-Syfy MMO game gets title: One Earth

MMO game developer Trion World Network announced some time ago that it was going to team up with the cable TV network Syfy on a joint MMO game that would also be developed as a TV show. Now Syfy parent company General Electric has apparently sneaked in the game's title, One Earth, on their GE Reports web site.

There's actually little info on the game or the TV show itself in the web site's article or in the video that you can see above. There's a lot of general talk about how both the MMO and the TV series will link together. Events in one medium will be reflected in the other, according to reps from both Trion and Syfy. One interesting tidbit is that GE has invested in Trion World Networks via their Peacock Equity fund. However it will will be interesting to see if this project continues if Syfy and all of NBC Universal's properties will be sold off to Comcast as planned.
