Trine heading to the Mac in November

Developer Frozenbyte's action-puzzle game Trine has sold very well in its PC incarnation. Now comes word that the title will be making its long awaited debut on the Mac. Frozenbyte has announced that the Mac port of Trine will be released sometime in November.

The Mac port will be released at first via Steam and because of that Trine will also support SteamPlay, meaning that people who purchase the PC port will get the Mac version for free and vise-versa. The Mac port will appear on other download services later. Frozenbyte also hints that if the Mac port of Trine does well a Mac version of the upcoming sequel Trine 2 could be released in 2011.

Trine 2 trailer deflects enemy fireballs

Trine
was one stellar indepedent game, and Trine 2 looks just as good as the first. However, it's not merely going to be a rehash with new levels. It's also including some new gameplay mechanics. The two new ones shown off in this trailer are air currents (which push around the wizard's conjurations) and the knight's projectile reflection. There's also multi-character co-op play, but that's not a new feature, as it was in the original game. The more we see of Trine 2, the more excited we get. The original was pretty fantastic, after all.

Trine 2 confirmed for PC release in spring 2011

When it was first announced that develper Frozenbyte was going to create a sequel to its cult hit downloadable action-puzzle game Trine we were very excited. So excited in fact that we managed to get the first interview posted about Trine 2. However the sequel's publisher Atlus would not yet commit to announcing which platforms Trine 2 would appear on.

Thankfully our (small) worries have been done away with. Frozenbyte and Atlus have now indeed confirmed that Trine 2 will be released in spring 2011 for the PC platform (alongside the Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles). The original Trine was released for the PC first with console ports coming later but there's no word if that will be case for the sequel. In any case, you can breath easier now.

New Trine patch adds 3D Vision support for first birthday

Today is the first anniversary of the release of the PC port of Trine, the accliamed puzzle-action game from developer Frozenbyte. To celebrate the first birthday, Frozenbyte has released a new patch, version 1.08, for the game's Steam version ( the patch will be made available for a stand alone release later).

The new patch adds support for Nvidia's 3D Vision tech meaning that player with the right monitor, graphics card and glasses can check out Trine in 3D for the first time. The new patch also improves the game's anti-aliasing support and also fixes the game's final level so no new enemies show up on the Very Hard setting.

Trine 2 confirmed

Earlier this week we reported that publisher Atlus had plans to release the next game from developer Frozenbyte. As it turns out the game is going to be a sequel to Frozenbyte's acclaimed puzzle-platformer title Trine. The sequel, with the not-too-imaginative title of Trine 2, is currently scheduled for release in 2011 and it will be shown next week at E3.

That's pretty much all we know at this point about the sequel (there's still no word on specific platforms) although if we were a betting news post (and we aren't) we would guess it would continue with the original game's mix of physics-based puzzles with some action through in for good measure. We should learn a lot more about the game at E3.

Trine developer Frozenbyte to announce new game next week

Developer Frozenbyte has been keeping busy and it looks like soon we will learn what their next game will be like. This week the developer sent over word that it has struck a new publishing deal with Altus for an all new game that will be released in 2011. More info on the game will be announced next week at E3 2010.

There's no info on what platforms the new game will appear on but Frozenbyte's previous games have all appeared on the PC, including the sci-fi top down shooters Shadowgrounds and Shadowgrounds Survivor and last year's release of the acclaimed platformer-puzzle game Trine.
