For those that love a mix of first-person shooting and real-time strategy elements, Natural Selection is one of the best games out there. However, the first one requires ownership of Half-Life to play and the second one, once released, will be a retail stand-alone game. There's an excellent free alternative, however. Spawned from the Quake 3 engine, Tremulous is an excellent merger of twitch action, strategy elements, and heavy moddability that only requires a small download. For those looking for an excellent freeware multiplayer game, Tremulous is a must-play.
