While all of us are waiting to play Trackmania 2, developer Nadeo is still supporting the earlier titles in the racing game series. This week the developer announced some changes that it is making for people who play the free Trackmania Nations Forever in online multiplayer.

Simply put, Nadeo is now restricting direct access for online play of the game to the servers that the developer itself hosts. This is due to the previously announced shut down of Nadeo's in-game ad agency for the game Massive. However, folks who want to sign on to user-run third party multiplayer servers can still do so by adding those servers to the player's favorites list but that list is limited to just three servers per account. According to Nadeo's statement, "The goal of this operation is to better welcome the free players in a place that encourage them more to buy the paying game (TrackMania United Forever) while preserving the capacity for the most enthusiastic players to access to all servers."

One of the few remaining pro gaming tournament organizations with tournaments in the US is the World Cyber Games. Recently the organization announced which games will be the official tournament titles that will be used in the WCG championships.

Some of the games have been used before like Counter-Strike 1.6, Starcraft: Brood War, and Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne. The WCG will also use the PC version of FIFA 09, Carom3D (a billiards title) and the MMO game Red Stone. In an unusual move, the WCG have also added the racing game Trackmania Nations Forever as a new official title in tournaments. Regional and national tournaments will be held throughout the year all over the world. The WCG World Championships will be held in Chengdu, China on Nov. 11-15

These two patches update TrackMania United Forever and TrackMania Nations Forever. This minor updates fix issues introduced by the last patch.

Next in Steam's line of weekend sales is developer Nadeo's Trackmania United Forever, which the site describes as "the most entertaining car racing game ever." Hyperbole aside, Trackmania United Forever does feature a bevy of modes and options for racing fans, such as four unique single-player modes, seven vehicle types, a graphical update for certain environments, and solo- and team-based multiplayer modes. The price reduction drops the game from $39.99 to $19.99.

In order to provide a taste of what Trackmania United Forever has to offer, Big Download hosts the free Trackmania Nations Forever. With 65 tracks and a Stadium environment, Trackmania Nations Forever should provide enough to warrant a purchase of United Forever for those players still on the fence about opening their wallets.

Yeah, I know, normally I do action and platforming and whatnot, but this game is incredible to no end! It's freely available just about anywhere, has excellent community support, great modding tools, and is just downright incredibly fun to play. The fact that it's on Steam (meaning you can obtain it incredibly easy anywhere) just furthers its incredible gameplay. I am, of course, talking about the phenomenon that is Trackmania Nations Forever.
