HAWX 2 flying into PC hard drives September 7

Earlier today we reported that Ubisoft's RTS title R.U.S.E is confirmed for a release on September 7. Today Big Download has confirmed via an Ubisoft PR rep that yet another game from that publisher will be heading to PC hard drives on that same date. It's Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. 2, the sequel to the near-future flying action game Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X.. The sequel will be released just 18 months after the first game shipped to stores in March 2009.

We have had some issues finding a PC version of the game available to pre-order at retail web sites like Amazon.com, Gamestop.com and Walmart.com. However Ubisoft's PR rep has told us the PC version will still be released to retail stores. It will also be made available as a digital download game.

Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. 2 announced; due out this fall

It looks like there will be more than one Tom Clancy-based game from Ubisoft this fall. Releasing alongside Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, Ubisoft announced today their plans for Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. 2 for the PC and other platforms. The sequel to their 2008 near-future flying action game will be developed by Ubisoft's Bucharest developer.

Ubisoft has revealed little info and no screenshots from the game yet, saying only that H.A.W.X. 2 will put players in the roles of "elite aerial soldiers in control of the world's most technologically advanced aircraft." A teaser site has already launched but it only shows today's press release and the above logo for now.

Older games also got their prices slash including the original F.E.A.R. for just $7.90 and Theme Hospital for just $9.90. GoGamer has also put in some Mac games on sale including the classic Heavy Metal: F.A.K.K. 2 for just a buck.

Hardware Review: Thrustmaster T.16000M Joystick

MSRP: $49.99 as standalone
MSRP: $79.99 bundled with Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X

At the core of the Thrustmaster T.16000M is a technology called H.E.A.R.T. (Hall Effect AccuRate Technology), which uses magnetic sensors to boost the flightstick's accuracy to 16,000 x 16,000 DPI resolution. What that means to gamers is that they gain a frictionless controller with unmatched precision and response. Additional features include built-in rudder controls that can be accessed by twisting the stick, programmable side buttons, a four direction hat switch and a throttle slider on the base. To top it all off, the package comes with tools to change over the padding for left-handed users.

The T.16000M can be purchased by itself or bundled with Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X, and in many ways, it seems like this flightstick was practically custom made for this game. This USB controller installs without a hassle. Windows XP and Vista detect it automatically once it's plugged in, and it's already configured to support all H.A.W.X controls. The base has a decent weight to it and the non-slip pads ensured that it didn't slide around, even during some of the most intense moments. Having one hand on the stick and the other on the base to access button controls like flares and the ERS system takes some getting used to, but it's a small issue to overcome.
