Dawn of War II's "There Is Only War" update due Thursday

Fans of the game have been waiting for weeks but tomorrow the wait will be over. Developer Relic Entertainment and publisher THQ have announced that the long awaited "There Is Only War" update to their hit sci-fi RTS game Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War II will be released sometime tomorrow.

Just a quick reminder for those of you who haven't read all our previous posts on the update: There Is Only War will add eight new multiplayer maps to the game, a ton of multiplayer balance changes to the game, and the new Observer mode which will allow folks to check out matches without joining the game themselves. You can check out the full patch notes right here.

Check out some player stats from the Dawn of War II beta

Like some folks who follow baseball, some gamers love to read and talk about their stats while playing games. The team at Relic Entertainment seem to know this because on the official Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War II community site they have reveals just some of the detailed stats they have collected while conducting the beta for the upcoming "There Is Only War" update.

For example there were an average of 8,367 players each day during the beta test period for the sci-fi RTS game. The average multiplayer skirmish matches took took15 minutes and 24 seconds to complete. The Space Marines were the most popular of the races to play in the beta (no shock there). Overall Relic states, "The numbers we've shown here are but a fraction of the data we've collected from the beta period, but crucial data used in the ongoing support we're putting into Dawn of War II." There's no word on when the final version of "There Is Only War" will be released but it should be "soon".

Dawn of War II beta patch period ends; official patch 'soon'

If you have been testing out the upcoming large update for Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War II you might know this already but the beta test period for the "There is Only War" patch has now ended. According to the game's official community site, "We have received hundreds of balance suggestions, numerous bug reports, and countless suggestions to undoubtedly make Dawn of War II a stronger, deeper, and more balanced game."

The patch will be released as an official update "soon" but so far no specific dates have been announced. As we have reported before the update to the best selling RTS game will contain eight new multiplayer maps, a new Observer mode, a map editor and other new features and bug fixes.

Dawn of War II beta update to end soon

People who have been enjoying the beta test of the upcoming "There Is Only War" content update for Warhammer 40,0000 Dawn of War II will soon have their enjoyment come to an end. A post on the game's official community site states that the dev team at Relic Entertainment won't be taking any more feedback on the beta after Tuesday, July 15.

The beta itself, which contains eight new multiplayer maps, a new observer mode and lots of other new features, will end on July 19. Presumably a few days after the beta ends Relic will release the final version of the "There is Only War" update but there's no word on an exact date.

Dawn of War II beta update goes live later today

We've already reported that Relic and THQ are planning to release a major content update for their sci-fi RTS game Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War II later this month. Today they plan to release an open beta version of the update which can be accessed via the Steam service.

The open beta for the 1.4 update, titled There Is Only War, will be made available at 2 pm PT (5 pm ET) and will include eight new multiplayer maps, the World Builder map editor, the new Observer feature and lots of other new features, balances changes and bug fixes.
