The Scourge Project is a 3rd-person action shooter made using the Unreal 3 Engine. This playable demo includes a handful of levels adapted from missions that can be found in the full game, however some of the weapons are locked and unusable. The demo also includes support for 4-player cooperative multiplayer using GameSpy. System requirements can be found after the jump.

"Set in the near future, The Scourge Project throws you into the boots of Echo Squad, an elite group of mercenaries hired by The Tarn Initiative to deal a decisive blow against the power-hungry Nogari Corporation. Your mission: First, to locate and rescue Dr Reisbeck, Tarn's double-agent inside Nogari; Second, to recover a piece of the meteorite fragment that Nogari has used to develop Ambrosia, the powerful new energy source with which they now control the world economy.

Stranded on Nogari Island shortly after being mysteriously attacked during your covert insertion, and surrounded on all sides by hostile forces, you'll need all of your skill to stay alive as you fight your way through the chaos that has consumed the alien-infested facilities that lie before you..."

The Scourge Project finally launches on Steam

It's taken a long time to reach this point but today indie game developer Tragnarion Studios has finally released their co-op themed action game The Scourge Project. Episodes 1 and 2 are now available to purchase and download via Steam. Normally the price would be $19.99 but from now until April 15 you can get the game for just $17.99

Just a reminder; The Scourge Project is an Unreal Engine 3 powered third person shooter with a strong emphasis on co-op and four playable characters, each with special abilities. You got nine weapons to use against various enemies and there are also several multiplayer modes available for up to 16 players.

The Scourge Project now set for March 2010 release

Last December, Spain-based game developer Tragnarion Studios announced that their third person sci-fi co-op shooter The Scourge Project would be released via Steam later that month. Well, December came and went with no such launch. Today the developer announced that the game would now be released on Steam sometime in March.

Just a reminder: the game uses Unreal Engine 3 and will be released in two episodes (both will apparently be made available at the same time) that will have about five hours of total gameplay. The single player campaign can be played in co-op with up to four players. Multiplayer modes for up to 16 players will be available as well. There's still no word on what the price will be for the game.

More and more small game developers are using tools created for AAA companies to create game titles. The latest example is Spain-based Tragnarion Studios. Earlier this month the company announced that their long-in-development co-op shooter The Scourge Project is due for release for the PC later in December.

Little is known about the game itself at the moment but Big Download got the company's rep Jean-Philip Rodriguez to give us the 411 on the game which uses Epic's Unreal Engine 3.

The Scourge Project due for release on Steam in December

It looks like hard core action gamers might game one more title out in 2009. Spain-based independent game developer Tragnarion Studios has announced that their third person sci-fi shooter The Scourge Project will be released via Steam sometime in December (a downloadable release for Xbox 360 and PS3 is due out in March 2010). The game was first announced over two years ago.

The game uses Unreal Engine 3 and will be released in two episodes that will have about five hours of gameplay. The single player campaign can be played in co-op with up to four players. Multiplayer modes for up to 16 players will be available as well. So far there's no word on pricing for The Scourge Project.
