Funcom's The Longest Journey could get third installment

One of the PC's most acclaimed adventure games, 2000's The Longest Journey, got a sequel in 2006, Dreamfall: The Longest Journey, that got mixed reviews sales. However developer Funcom could make a third game in the series ... someday.

Speaking to Eurogamer, Funcom's Ragnar Tornquist, the creator of the first two games, said this week that it's "absolutely possible" that a third Longest Journey game could happen at some point. However, he added that Funcom is currently focuses on making its next big MMO, The Secret World. He said, "Once that's out of the way we'll talk about other stuff."

The Longest Journey added to GoG.com's line-up

Long before Funcom became a MMO-exclusive game developer they created acclaimed PC adventure titles such as The Longest Journey. The game, released in 2000, has now become the latest game to be added to GoG.com's DRM-free library of titles to purchase and download.

The Longest Journey mixes sci-fi and fantasy in its tale of April Ryan, who shifts in between two parallel universes and tries to save both from disaster. The game is now available to download from GoG.com for $9.99. It includes some bonuses such as the game's original soundtrack along with some wallpapers and artworks. Perhaps GoG.com will follow this release at some point with the game's quasi-sequel Dreamfall at some point.

Ragnar Tornquist teases with Dreamfall tidbits

If you've been dreaming of more Dreamfall adventures, you're not alone. Ragnar Tornquist, Dreamfall designer, recently updated his blog with a few tantalizing Dreamfall morsels.

In response to a deluge of Dreamfall-related questions he no doubt receives daily, Ragnar wrote that he intends to "continue both the story of Dreamfall (and Zoë) as well as the saga itself through other games set in the same universe, possibly between the events of TLJ [The Longest Journey] and Dreamfall...and before. And after."

Unfortunately, Dreamfall simply isn't FunCom's biggest priority right now. "With Age of Conan live, The Secret World staffing up in every department, and other games in various stages of development, the project is currently on the back burner - but it hasn't been abandoned."
