E3 2010: We get more info about The First Templar

Games set in the Middle Ages are nothing new, of course, but the folks at developer Haemimont Games hope they have a new way of handling such games in their recently announced title The First Templar. Due for release in 2011 by publisher Kalypso Media, the title is a co-op themed game with a Templar knight and a lady teaming up to fight the bad guys.

Big Download got a chance to ask some questions to Nikola Ikonomov, the game's designer, and he gave us some new details on the title's background, development and why they are making an action game after so many strategy-sim titles.

The Last Templar announced

Publisher Kalypso Media has just announced a new game from developer Haemimont Games, the makers of Tropico 3. This time the game isn't an island sim title but co-op themed action-adventure game called The Last Templar. The game, set during the Middle Ages, is due out in the first quarter of 2011.

The game will let you control two characters. One is a French Templar, a knight who is trying to learn the secret of The Holy Grail (we hope he doesn't have to fight the Knights who say, "Ni!"). The other character is a noble lady who for some reason has been branded as a heretic. The game will feature solo play with the player able to switch between the two characters with AI controlling the other one. There's also drop-in support for two player co-op. The game is also supposed to have 20 historically accurate locations.
