StarCraft II to include Protoss mini-campaign in Wings of Liberty

Ever since Blizzard announced that their long awaited RTS sequel StarCraft II would be split up into three parts, most folks had assumed the first installment, Wings of Liberty, would be all about the Terran race in its single player campaign. As it turns out, the game will also have something a little extra for Protoss fans.

As confirmed by Blizzard's European community team in a Battle.net message board post, the single player campaign for Wings of Liberty will have a main Terran campaign and "a Protoss mini-campaign that lets you control Protoss units. This part of the campaign mode is of course way shorter than the Terran part, but it is very fun to have a very different playstyle to add even more variety to the game."

StarCraft 2 Cinematic trailer reignites an epic rivalry

The Protoss and Zerg have a long-runny feud that spans eons and multiple star systems. That bitter battle continues in StarCraft II, where what's remains of the Protoss civilization fight a newly evolved Zerg led by the Queen of Blades to the brink of annihilation. Having a cinematic trailer is a good sign, not only because Blizzard does a fantastic job with CGI cutscenes, but also because it gives people hope that the game release isn't that far off, despite the announcement that fans wouldn't see StarCraft Ii: Wings of Liberty until 2010. A gameplay video featuring the Terran and Zerg forces can be seen after the jump.
