Syberia 2 added to GoG.com

As promised a couple of weeks ago, the DRM-free PC gaming web site GoG.com continues to add to its library of titles using the Syberia series of adventure games. Today the service offers up Syberia 2, the 2004 released third and final game in the series that began with Amerzone and continued with the first Syberia game, the latter of which is also available on GoG.com

Syberia 2 continues the storyline from Syberia as we learn more about the journey of the main character in the series Kate Walker. GoG.com also offers up free wallpapers, artworks and the game's soundtrack for download along with the game for $9.99.

GoG.com adds Syberia to line-up; classic Atari games coming in April

Today the DRM-free PC game download site GoG.com announced not one but two new publishing deals. The first will bring the games in the classic Syberia adventure series to the site. The first Syberia game, designed by Benoît Sokal and released in 2002, is already available to purchase and download for $9.99 with Syberia 2 and its prequel Amerzone coming in the near future.

Today GoG,com also announced plans to add games from publisher Atari's library to its game line-up. Those games will start showing up in April and will include classic titles such as Outcast, Master of Magic and Master of Orion.

Gametap adds one and keeps one free game this week

This week the Gametap PC game download service is making some folks happy by extending the free-to-play run for one of its games. S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow Of Chernobyl, the 2007 FPS from GSC Game World, was placed on the free list last Thursday but Gametap has decided to keep it free to play for another week.

Added to the free-to-play list for one week is Syberia, the classic adventure game from Microids. Added to Gametap's paid premimum service is Post Mortem, yet another great adventure game from Microids. And next week prepare to get inside a 50 foot tall killing machine as Microsoft's Mechwarrior 4: Mercenaries is added to Gametap's premimum service on May 28.

April Fool's Alert: Syberia 3 announced

Some April Fool's gags are funny but also blatantly obvious. Others are a little more subtle, Such is the case with today's "announcement" by Microids for Syberia 3. The press release for the third game in the cult favorite adventure game series looked, at least at first, like the real thing.

That is until you actually read it. It states the game will allow "those playing on PC and those playing on PS3 to collaborate online, thanks to a simultaneous data exchange and sharing mode on the two platforms." Uh-huh. It also states, "Only PS3 players who have collaborated with PC players, and vice versa, . . " can actually finish the game. We emailed Microids' PR contact who admitted the truth: "Well... I do have to confess this is an April Fools joke..." Well played Microids . . . well played.
