Download full version of Stubbs The Zombie for free (really) [Update]

Well, what do you know? We talk a lot about downloading games on the cheap here at Big Download but there's also some games that that you can get for absolutely nothing. Today that list just got a new addition; Stubbs the Zombie. There is a way to get the 2005 released zombie action game from developer Wideload Games without paying a penny.

Head on over to Game Agent's web site; that's the PC and Mac game download store for Stubbs the Zombie's publisher Aspyr Media. When you see that game listed hit the "Download Now" button. In the promo code section type ASPYRTHANKS inside and activate it. POOF. That $9.99 game just turned into a $0.00 game. There's no word on how long the promo code will last, however, so we suggest grabbing it now.

Update: Looks like the free promotion is done. The game has gone up to $19.99 and the promo code knocks the sales price down to $4.99. Super-cheap . . .but not free.

Disney Interactive buys Wideload Games

A game developer that tried to do things differently has now been bought out by one of the biggest of the corporate entertainment groups. Disney Interactive announced today that it has acquired Chicago-based Wideload Games for an unnamed amount. It's founder Alex Seropian, who previously helped to found Bungie, will be getting a new job at Disney Interactive as its newly created vice president of creative and will now oversee all of Disney Interactive's games.

Wideload Games tried to develop games differently as it only had a core group in place and hired out most of its development to third parties, much like a movie production. Their first game was the humor-filled action game Stubbs The Zombie and later developed Hail to the Chimp and most recently Texas Cheat-em Poker. Wideload will continue to work out of Chicago on upcoming Disney Interactive projects.

Steam weekend sale puts Stubbs The Zombie at just $4.99

It's Friday. Your work week is done for many of you and you just want to sit back in your chair and play games on your PC. Valve's Steam service always reduced one or more of the games they have on sale for the weekend and this time it's no exception. Wideload Games' Stubbs The Zombie has been reduced a whopping 75 percent and can be bought for just $4.99 for this weekend only.

The only third party game that used Bungie's Halo engine as its graphical basis, Stubbs The Zombie is one of the few honestly funny games as you control the title character as he rampages across a fictional city. Eating brains, causing death and even bringing more zombies to his cause is the order of the day here. Playing this game will get you in the mode for Valve's super-serious zombie action game Left 4 Dead in November.
