Report: Piracy to blame for no Super Street Fighter IV for PC

PC gamers were extremely happy that Capcom decided to port Street Fighter IV to the PC in 2009. So naturally some folks thought that Capcom would do the same for Super Street Fighter IV which adds 10 new characters to the 25 that come from the original. However, if a Japanese web site is to be believed, a PC port is not coming anytime soon.

In a chat with 4gamer.net (and translated by Gamasutra) the game's producer producer Yoshinori Ono stated that while a port of the game would be easy Capcom doesn't want to release the game on the PC due to the high degree of piracy. He also indicated that Capcom could change its mind if it could find a DRM solution for the title. What about using Steam? Oddly, Ono said that's not an option either since Capcom feels it would be unfair for people who can't purchase games via Steam. Ummmm ... Capcom does know that Steam is pretty much the biggest PC game download service there is, right?

The Hulkster and Mr. T fight it out in Street Fighter IV PC mod

We had a feeling that Capcom's recent PC release of Street Fighter IV would get the mod community to create some new looks for the various characters in the fighting game. The Shoryuken web site's forums have a list of all of the character mod that have been created by various third parties.

While the majority of mods are basically modified costumes of the already existing characters one enterprising mod team has decided to go all out and create new skins based on Hulk Hogan and Mr. T. With this mod you can now set these former allies in the wrestling ring against each other. We like the nice touch of adding The A-Team music to the YouTube video that shows off the two modified characters. Now all we need is a Rocky skin and we will be all set.

Capcom to release Street Fighter 4-gamepad bundle

Oh, sure . . . you could try to play the upcoming PC version of Street Fighter IV with a keyboard-mouse control set-up. But let's face it; the game isn't an RTS or FPS. It's a fighting game and these kinds of games don't come around to the PC very often. Which is why Street Fighter IV's publisher Capcom has got a nice deal for PC owners.

While the regular PC version will go on sale July 7 for $39.99, Capcom will also sell a version for $59.99 that will come with both the game and a Mad Catz FightPad. Normally the FightPad would sell for $40 on it's own so this game-gamepad bundle is an especially nice deal. The special bundle will be made available for sale at Capcom's online store and at Amazon.com but there's no word on when pre-orders will be taken.

Street Fighter IV PC gets July release date

Capcom has been teasing us with plans to release the PC port of Street Fighter IV but the publisher has yet to finalize a release date for the fighting game for our platform. Well, the company has just announced plans for releasing the PC version in July with the Japanese getting the game specifically on July 2 and the UK getting its title on July 3

As we have reported before, the PC version will allow gamers to change the art shaders and have Street Fighter IV switch between four different art styles. Online play via Microsoft's Games for Windows Live and and support for higher resolutions are also a part of the Street Fighter IV PC port.
