Steam begins annual (and massive) holiday sale a bit early

Last year, Valve launched their big Steam holiday sale the day after Christmas, with price cuts covering nearly all of the games available on the site. Today they launched their holiday sale a bit early, covering a ton of PC games and lasting until January 3. Just some of the sales include every 2K Games title priced at 33 percent off, 50 off the entire Ubisoft library and 66 percent off all Unreal and Atari games.

In addition Steam will have some extra-special sales for a limited time. From now until Christmas Eve these games will be priced as follows:

Grand Theft Auto IV
: $7.49
Mirror's Edge: $4.99
Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising: $19.99
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl : $1.99
Defense Grid: The Awakening: $2.49

Reminder: Massive Steam game sale ends tomorrow (but when?)

If you haven't taken advantage of Valve's huge holiday sale on their Steam service you are running out of time. The sale, which cuts prices on every game available on the download service is scheduled to end sometime on Friday.

Unfortunately Valve has not made it clear when exactly the sale will end. It could end just after midnight on Friday or it could end sometime during the day or at the end of the day. So if you want to get some cheap games today might the time to do so. Remember some games and game collections have been reduced by as much as 75 percent and some games are available for as little as 99 cents.

Massive After-Christmas Steam game sale in progress

Valve has always used the weekend to discount at least one game from their Steam service but this week it's a tad different. They are holding a massive after-Christmas sale that doesn't end until next Friday, January 2. Not only that but they are putting up every game on Steam on sale.

Yep, every game on Steam will have at least a 10 percent discount off its normal price from now until next Friday. Indeed some games and game collections will get even bigger discounts, as much as 75 percent in some cases. For example all Ubisoft games are now 25 percent off while all THQ games are between 25 to 50 percent off. All 2K Games titles are between 25 and 75 percent off. Even some of Valve's own games have huge price cuts. Counter-Strike: Source is 50 percent off, Left 4 Dead is 25 percent off, Portal is just $4.99 and Half-Life: Opposing Force and Half-Life: Blue Shift are now just 99 cents each.
