New Spider-Man: Web of Shadows screenshots show off new characters

Activision's latest Spider-Man game Web of Shadows is only a few weeks away from being released and today the developer sent over a boarload of new screenshots that introduce some of the other Marvel Universe based characters that will make an apperance in the open world action game.

Two of Spider-Man's big villains are included in these shots; the shocking (hehe) Electro and the massive Rhino. The sexy Russian superspy Black Widow (who is non-superpowered by the way) also makes an appearance in the game. The oddest new character is Moon Knight, the mysterious Egyptian based hero that gains strenght by how full the Moon is. The Treyarch-Shaba Games developed title is due out this November.

Black Cat gets lucky in new Spider-Man: Web of Shadows screenshots

Activision is getting ready to release their latest game in their long line of Spider-Man titles this fall and while Spider-Man: Web of Shadows will feature the web slinger in the starring role, supporting characters from the comics are due to appear as well.

One of those characters is The Black Cat, a costumed thief who has a "thing" for Spider-Man in the comics and also apparently in the game as well. The character is portrayed in voice form by our favorite Cylon Tricia Helfer and some new screenshots show off how The Black Cat is visualised in Web of Shadows. The game, developed by Treyarch and Shaba Games, does not yet have a specific release date other than "fall"

Spider-Man has friends in new Web of Shadows screenshots

What do you do when an alien force takes over New York City? When you are the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man you might need some help. In some new screenshots from the upcoming Activision game Spider-Man: Web of Shadows, we see Spidey teaming up with that other famous Marvel character Wolverine. We suspect other Marvel super heroes and villains will be joining the web slinger in the game.

The new game promises to have better and more interesting combat moves for Spider-Man and once again the game takes place in an open world New York City where pretty much everything is accessible. The title, co-developed by Treyarch and Shaba Games, is due for release this fall.

Spider-man against the world in new trailer

The latest trailer for Spider-man: Web of Shadows gives everyone a deeper look into what the game is all about and how far the infection spreads. Web of Shadows will pit Spider-man against a world of infected citizens, which forces him to tap into some dark-side powers from his alien costume. Spidey won't be fighting alone, since the trailer clearly shows Wolverine lending his claws to the not-so-friendly neighborhood Spider-man's cause. This trailer premiered at the 2008 Comic-Con in San Diego.

E3 08: More from Activision's non-E3 press conference

Activision didn't mention E3 once during its press conference Tuesday night but the event certainly wouldn't have been held without all those journalists who just happened to be in Los Angeles attending the event. We mentioned a couple of things about the press conference already but here are a few more bits that might interest PC gamers:

Treyarch's Call of Duty: World at War was one of several games show in trailer form at the event (no live demos unfortunately). One of the two trailers showed off co-op gameplay in the Pacific Theater of WWII which is a first for th Call of Duty series. Also, the company announced that Jack Bauer himself, actor Kiefer Sutherland, will voice a character in the game and his unmistakable gravel-like voice was heard in the co-op trailer.

Spider-Man: Web of Shadows was also shown and is the latest open world action game for Marvel's web slinger. The visuals of Spider-Man engadging in mid-air combat against the Vulture were pretty impressive.

The new James Bond game based on the movie Quantum of Solace was also shown in demo form. As previously announced the game will also have movie elements from Daniel Craig's first Bond flick Casino Royale and we were treated to two gameplay sections in the trailers. One, from Casino Royale, showed Bond taking out armed bad guys in a hotel room and creating a lot of damage. The other was a never-before-seen section from Quantum of Solace which showed Bond fighting the bad guys in a sewer system.

While mention was made on the just completed Activision Blizzard merger no Blizzard or former Vivendi Games titles were shown at the event.

Big Download's most anticipated PC games of E3 2008: Wild Cards

In the past five days we have revealed our picks for the 25 most anticipated games that might be shown at E3 2008. However there are a number of other titles that we are looking forward to seeing at the show as well that didn't quite make the list. There are also some games that might be officially revealed at the show for the first time. Let's take a look at the wild card games that might surprise us at the show this year.

New Spider-Man: Web of Shadows video shows off combat gameplay

Spider-Man: Web of Shadows is the latest open-world action game based on the Marvel super hero character but this time the developers at Shaba Games and publisher Activision are promising some different aspects to the franchise. A newly released gameplay trailer gives some info on their plans, specifically on combining the web-slinging powers of Peter Parker with the actual combat.

The video really does show some impressive combat moves that finally seem to give the player a true sense of how Spider-Man actually takes out his foes in the comic books. If you want to see the full HD trailer, which includes commentary from the Shaba Games dev team, you can download it right here at Big Download. The full game is scheduled to be released for the PC and other platforms this fall.
