The one man team responsible for the cult hit strategy games Solium Infernum and Armageddon Empires has just announced his next project. Cryptic Comet's Vic Davis has posted word on his blog site that the next game from him is Six Gun Saga and as you might guess from the title is a Wild West themed game.

While it was planned at first as a Rogue-like adventure game, that design was put on hold. However, Davis says that he's taken some art elements from that failed design to make this new game. Six Gun Saga will be a single player game against AI opponents and will have more elements than just card such as " .. a small board for moving your "posses' around and going after your opponent's homesteads...and more importantly killing off their dudes which gives you victory points." Davis says the game will "hopefully" be done in a couple of months. He's also working on an expansion pack for Solium Infernum.

A year has gone by, and we find ourselves once again looking at our family and wondering just what to get them for Christmas. While you can certainly get them such stellar titles as Dawn of War 2, you may want to shift your focus to some cheaper and more interesting games. Take a glimpse at some of these titles, and see if you want to go back to the big budgets of more mainstream games. After all, every year indie gaming only gets better.

From Cryptic Comet, the developer of Armageddon Empires, comes Solium Infernum - a turn based strategy game that offers players a chance to vie for the Infernal Throne of Hell. The playable demo is limited to 25 turns, a single map single player vs the AI or hotseat and about half of the legions, praetors, relics and artifacts found in the full game. The full game may be purchased from the official website for $29.99.

In mid-2007 Vic Davis released Armageddon Empires, a PC turn-based-strategy game with a post-apocalypse setting. Davis did almost all of the work on the game himself and while it didn't get much attention at first it slowly became a cut hit among fans of indie games as well as critics. Davis discussed the game with Big Download in June of 2008.

Now Davis, under his game development company Cryptic Comet, is very close to releasing his follow-up to Armageddon Empires. While it's still a turn-based strategy game, Solium Infernum has a very different setting as your player character has to fight to rule over Hell itself. On the eve of the game's official release (which should be sometime on Wednesday) Davis was kind enough to answer some of Big Download's questions about the game as well as other topics.
