Soldier Front adds new map and new weapons in latest update

Last month, the free to play first person shooter Soldier Front on the ijji.com web site the latest such game to add their version of a zombie gameplay mode (they call it Horror Mode). This week the game received a new content update that also involved the new mode. One of the game's more popular levels, Shanghai, has been remade into Horror Shanghai with "ominously dark skies and blood-stained streets" and can now be used in Horror mode.

The content update also adds two new weapons to the mix. One is the Tango 51 sniper rifle and the other is the mighty six barrel Gatling Gun.

Soldier Front becomes latest free-to-play FPS to add zombies

For some odd reason the zombie trend in both games and in pop culture in general has no signs of dying off anytime soon. Today NHN USA announced that their free-to-play first person shooter Soldier Front has become the latest game to add a gameplay mode that features some kind of zombies or infected folks.

The new Zombie Mode lets one player become the infected while the other players remain human. The goal is for that one play to start infecting the other normal participants with its zombie infection until all of the players become hungry for human flesh. The new mode also includes some new weapons such as the Devil Uzi designed to help take out the flesh-eating monsters.

If you are like most of us, the economy's quick drop this fall may have left you with a lack of cash to pay for that new copy of Left 4 Dead or Far Cry 2. However if you want to play a first person shooter game for free and don't feel like paying for it there are actually quite a number of free-to-play titles out there that you can download and play right now.

Big Download has noticed a growing trend of first person shooter titles that are already out there, in beta testing or coming up in the near future that you can just download and play. Some of these games do have or will have premium fees or micro-transactions to get more content but all of them can be enjoyed for free without the need to pay a cent. We decided to do a quick round-up of just a few of the current and upcoming free-to-play FPS titles. And remember, the best things in life are free..or so we have been told.
