Race07 to get five downloadable mini-expansions

race07
Race07, the European racing sim game from Sweden-based SimBin, was first released four years ago. Yet the game continues to sell and be updated with new patches. Today SimBin announced that Race07 will be getting no less than five mini-expansion packs that will be made available via download.

The first expansion, Formula RaceRoom, will add the super fast car Formula RR to the game along with three layouts of the Hockenheim Ring track. The expansion pack will be free to download at the raceroom.net web site with a release date to be announced later. The other expansions will cost between $5 to $10 each and willl be available to download at the Raceroom.net web site as well as Steam.

SimBin announced nearly a year ago that it was working on an all new GTR racing sim game but so far details of that game have yet to be revealed.

SimBin teams up with RaceRoom on racing simulation hardware setups

The racing simulation developer SimBin has been pretty quiet of late but today the Sweden-based company announced plans to enter into a "long term strategic business partnership" with the Switzerland-based RaceRoom Entertainment. The two will be teaming up to offer high end racing simulation hardware set-ups including "Race bucket seats and high end steering wheels" along with monitors and sound systems. The software will used SimBin's many different racing simiulation games it has developed over the years.

SimBin announced plans last March to release an all new game in its GTR racing sim series for release in 2011. However there's been little info on the game since that announcement.

New GTR racing sim game announced for 2011

One of the most prolific racing sim developers around, the Sweden-based SimBin has just announced plans to release a new game in their long running GTR game series. The game itself is set for a 2011 release but no publisher or platform has been announced although a PC release is very likely given the history of previous GTR games.

Details on the new game are still a bit on the vague side with SimBin stating the new GTR game "will take gamers back to the roots" of previous SimBin game released while still "offering a brand new take" of their style of game. The press release does state the new game will have "new innovative online features and activities" and gamers can also expect "a very comprehensive DLC plan."

"The RACE On demo has two game modes: in 'Racing Event' mode players must complete a whole weekend of racing, including training, qualifiers and the race itself, whereas the objective in 'Time Attack' is to achieve the fastest lap around a circuit."

In RACE On, "players can race on the circuits in 39 meticulously reproduced vehicles that are available in over 450 designs. 27 variants of 21 racing tracks guarantee hours of gaming fun. Apart from Imola and Okayama, glamorous raceways such as Laguna Seca, Road America, Sturup and Karlskoga also feature on the impressive list of tracks.

A realistic physics engine and a dynamic weather system that can change during a race, provides a totally authentic race atmosphere. Compulsory pit stops in the STCC races add an extra tactical component to the already exhilarating gameplay experience."

The full game is scheduled to release on October 22nd. System requirements are shown after the jump.

SimBin taking beta sign ups for new online racing sim

You have raced against AI opponents and raced against other players in offline and online multiplayer matches. Now racing sim game developer SimBin has announced plans to supposedly take the racing genre to the next level. Today they announced that they are taking beta sign-ups for an unnamed title that they claim will allow gamers to race against "professional drivers who, at that very same moment, will be driving real GT cars on a real race track."

Little has been revealed on exactly how this will work but SimBin said the technology for such a feature is being created by a company called iOpener. 5,000 people will be brought in to beta test the new game but there's no word yet on when that will begin.

SimBin to release free Volvo game in May

In the latest example of the "adver-game", developer SimBin (best known for their many terrific racing simulator titles) have announced plans to release a free game on May 26. Simply called Volvo-The Game, the title is of course a way for the car maker to market their vehicles.

The game itself will feature the Volvo S60 Concept car along with an number of other Volvo race cars with players across two tracks and three difficulty levels. Both Volvo and SimBin are based in Sweden and according to the developer's CEO Henrik Roos,"Two Swedish brands joining forces sounded like a perfect match to us."

Race On heads for the PC

Racing sim developers SimBin recently completed and released Race Pro, a title for the Xbox 360. This week the developer announced that they will be releasing the similarly named Race On for the PC, both as a stand alone game and as an expansion pack for previous owners of their PC title Race 07.

The press release goes into far more detail than we could in a brief news post on what is contained in this game. In summary Race On has a total of 37 cars (including 16 new vehicles), 30 different tracks (a number of which have never been seen in a SimBin PC game) and several different racing circuits. Race On is due to be released sometime this spring.

Steam offers RACE 07/GTR Evolution pre-order package deal

The folks at Valve continue to give Steam customers (at least those in North America) some cool package deals on games on their service. The latest is for the upcoming SimBin developed racing simulation GTR Evolution. This latest game is actually an extension of the previously released RACE 07 and contains nearly 50 cars, 19 different tracks and both a simulation and arcade racing mode.

GTR Evolution actually contains the full RACE 07 game and Steam is offering people who pre-order GTR Evolution 10 percent off its regular $39.99 price before it launches on September 1. If you already own RACE 07 you can download GTR Evolution from Steam; it is also priced at 10 percent off its regular price of $19.99.

GTR Evolution trailer released

The first trailer for GTR Evolution has been released, offering a look at Simbin Development Team AB's forthcoming PC racer. Alongside the trailer's debut is the game's official website, which offers picture galleries and a few tidbits of info regarding GTRE.

Boasting the game as the racing genre's next big evolution, the Simbin team touts GTR Evolution features such as having "Race-line in Time-Trial ... inspired by the Race-line in GTR2 but features more options," as well as "distinctive brake-markers to indicate braking points, [so that] the game can now show two Race-lines simultaneously. These Race-lines including their ghost-files and setups can be up- or downloaded in-game as well."
