Tilted Mill preparing new Children of the Nile update; will self-publish new games

The folks at game developer Tilted Mill Entertainment haven't lacked for work since they were founded in 2001. The company, created by former members of the now defunct Impressions Games, have specialized in the city sim genre. Their first title was the 2004 released game Children of the Nile which was released in the US via the now defunct publisher Myelin Media. In 2006, the company released Caesar IV for Vivendi Games and in 2007 they worked with Electronic Arts on Sim City Societies.

Now Tilted Mill is preparing to chart some new territory for itself. According to an email sent to Big Download by Tilted Mill president Chris Beatrice, the developer recently got the rights back to Children of the Nile and is preparing to re-release the title later this year in a new enhanced version. According to Beatrice the new version will not only have new content but a redesign that will make the game more accessible to new players as well as improve the experience for previous owners of the game. Tilted Mill plans to release a free update to the 2004 version that will contain all of the new enhancements and content. It will also release a new demo of the enhanced version as well.

New Sim City Societies patch adds a bunch of new features

Developer Tilted Mill and publisher Electronic Arts continue to add to their 2007 released city simulation game Sim City Societies via patches and the latest patch is no exception. The "Game Update 5" patch adds a number of new gameplay features to the title and we have it available to grab right here at Big Download.

The full details are in the patch notes but the highlights include six new scenarios to try out, a new maintenance system for buildings, a new policies system, improved budget graphs, a new city management screen, a new terrain leveling tool and other changes, additions and bug fixes. This certainly seems to be a "must have" download for players of the game.

New Sim City Socities patch adds new content

The (sort of) city management simulation game Sim City Societies just got a new content update today and the Tilted Mill-Electronic Arts PC game just got a bunch of new toys for players to use in their various city constructions. The release notes go into more details but here's a summary; you get two new crises to deal with (a religious holiday and a counter-culture revolution), 15 new home building models along with the new warehouse and low-rise office building. You also get two new venues (Supermarket and Carousel) and a mod management tool that lets players enable or delete mods for the game.

Our favorite new feature in this update are two wacky new disasters that can wreck havoc on your cites. One is the Burgazoid 6000, a mean fast-food mascot that shoots laser beams and causes mini-earthquakes just buy walking. The other is Ornithosaurus Wrecks which has a huge bird-like creature spiting fire from his mouth. We would like to see how a real mayor could handle these threats. On second thought, maybe not.
