Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 trailer blows apart imperial soldiers

Bionic Commando Rearmed
is easily our favorite remake of all time. It captures that feel of the NES Bionic Commando while modernizing it excellently. The sequel, Bionic Commando Rearmed 2, understandably has us just as excited to take part in the adventures of Rad Spencer, and the trailers and details given out by developer Fatshark have only made us more pumped. The game has finally released on consoles (but not PC, unfortunately), and this trailer commemorates the occasion with tons of gameplay footage. From new weapons to beautiful new environments to cheesy 8-bit styling, it's one of the better launch trailers we've had the pleasure to watch.

Freeware Friday: We Want YOU!

Welcome to Freeware Friday, a weekly column showcasing excellent games that you can play free of charge!

War games and procedurally generated games are favorites here at Big Download. We Want YOU fits both of those models, and does it in a way that is funny, fun, and subversive all at the same time. It pulls from inspirations such as Spelunky to make a game that is part platformer, part shooter, and all excellent. It has finally been released from beta status into standard, release candidate status, which means it's about time that people seriously give it a try. After all, with a list of changes from build to build that only serves to impress, you'll be hard pressed to find a game quite as engaging as We Want YOU that is also as well-designed and funny.

Boot Disk: Earthworm Jim

Sometimes you just need to sit down, slide a floppy into your A: drive, and enjoy gaming retro style. We know this all too well! That's why we have a list of the best and brightest from days long gone. These are some of our favorite games of all time, and we're sure that you'll love them as much as we do, if not more. Welcome to Boot Disk, and enjoy the retro ride!

Boot Disk covers a lot of genres, from shooters to strategy games to RPGs. However, the one under-represented genre is easily sidescrollers. Since Interplay has been releasing their old catalog out into the world once again, PC users have access to one of the best sidescrollers ever made. Earthworm Jim is one of those games that is not only good, it is ridiculously good, and it leaves nothing but fond memories for those that have decided to play it. With the creative dream team of Shiny and Doug TenNapel, it came out of nowhere to show us just what surreal fun can be like.

Fairytale Fights reveals two new characters

Revealing new characters for action RPGs seems to be the name of the game today. First League of Legends, and now Fairytale Fights. Playlogic has announced today that Jack from Jack and the Beanstalk and the naked emperor from The Emperor's New Clothes will both be playable characters in the fairytale-themed hack-'n-slash game, joining the roster alongside Snow White and Little Red Riding Hood. No information on the characters' moves or gameplay has been released, so who knows what they play like. Fairytale Fights is still scheduled for Holiday 2009. Full release after the cut.

Play the unfinished in 10800 zombies

It's always a shame when a game with so much potential doesn't end up being completed. 10800 Zombies is an entry in the Third 3 Hours poppenkast competition, and it is unfinished. Featuring incredibly simple graphics and gameplay, it shows a lot of promise, especially if something procedural had been put into place. Instead it's just a game that has immensely satisfying deaths and no true ending. There are about 4 levels to play through, each one only taking a minute or two. Here's hoping the developer does something more with it.

Edit: It appears that the developer did end up finishing the game! Look in the comments for more information.
