Gametap gives us free play for Sid Meier's Pirates

It's Thursday so that means its time for a new update on the Gametap download site. This week Gametap is offering us a free version of Sid Meier's Pirates to play until January 22. The 2005 released strategy game from the legendary game creator and his Firaxis Games studio received solid reviews for its publisher 2K Games.

Also Gametap has added to its paid premium section with a new title; Shattered Union, the turn-based strategy game set in a near-future Second US Civil War. It was also released in 2005 by 2K Games and developed by the now defunct Poptop Software.

Sid Meier's Pirates coming to the Mac (finally)

We all know that it takes PC games some time to be ported over to the Mac but this case seems especially long. UK based Feral Interactive has announced that it will be the one to finally bring Firaxis Games' 2004 strategy-RPG Sid Meier's Pirates to the Mac.

The game was released for the PC nearly four years ago in the fall of 2004 by Atari in the last Sid Meier-Firaxis title to be released by the publisher before Firaxis and its properties were bought by 2K Games. Feral Interactive is taking pre-orders for the Mac version at its web site. It will ship out in late August for the price of $29.95.
