Starcraft 2 Guide: Achieving The Impossible

Achievements are always a controversial addition to any game, and Starcraft 2 is no exception. Blizzard has fully embraced the achievement craze that is sweeping game development, and the result is a massive amount of achievements for Starcraft 2. They range from the super easy to the super difficult, and it's out goal to make sure that everyone can get these achievements at some point. After all, some of them are essential if you are going for completionism! The inner compulsive inside every gamer demands 100% completion!

Starcraft 2 Guide: Zergling Swarm

Many people are terrified of heaving, all-consuming biological masses of spikes and venom, which is why the Aliens movies are so effective at scaring us. The Zerg fall straight into this principle of "scary natural weapon aliens," and their tactics definitely reflect it. Combining a mixture of speed, swarming tactics, and heavy usage of macromanagement, the Zerg are a force to be reckoned with if played well. Their strategies in Starcraft 2 are a mix of old and new, and thanks to some new units and abilities, they are as strong as ever. Unfortunately, they are fairly difficult to handle, which makes them the least played of all three races in Starcraft 2.

Leaked StarCraft II system specs turn out not to be official

The other day, Spanish gaming magazine Micromania leaked what it believed to be official minimum and recommended system specs for Blizzard's highly anticipated StarCraft II.

The specs called for a Pentium 4 or better processor, 2 GB of system memory, and a GeForce 7/8 or Radeon 1000/2000 series video card with at least 256 MB of video memory. Those specs were arguably steep for a Blizzard game; traditionally the company has kept the entry level very low for its products, so as many people as possible could buy and enjoy them.

Blizzard has since contacted various media outlets and denied that the specs are official, saying: "Blizzard has not released final, official system requirements for StarCraft II. The numbers you're seeing are a result of independent speculation from a Spanish game magazine." This should come as a relief in particular to Blizzard enthusiasts who are gaming on low-end or mid-range laptops.

Starcraft 2 Q&A #36: On units and screenshots

If you're the kind of person whose rampant enthusiasm for Starcraft knows no bounds, take heed! Blizzard has released another in their long line of Starcraft 2 Q&A sessions, this one being the 36th entry in the sessions. It covers some interesting questions and shows a new screenshot showing the new size of the Banelings as they swarm another Zerg player's base.

There's not much more than that. Out of the answers, the discussion of how a nuke works against certain targets is pretty interesting, as well as how the Overlord upgrades into an Overseer. Give it a look on the battle.net forums.
