Prototype 2 trailer throws a man across the block

There's not much to this trailer. Like the previous Prototype 2 videos, it's a one-trick pony. In this case, the trick is throwing a man so hard that he flies across the block, hits a car, and then explodes in a massive shockwave of blood. That's all there is to it. Oh, and a release date: sometime in 2012.

With Fire and Sword trailers shift between peace and violence

The two latest trailers for Mount And Blade: With Fire And Sword have arrived, and they strike a sharp contrast. The first, above, shows off mostly ambient elements. Soft, menacing music plays as it sets the stage for brief bits of action at the very end. The second, below, is a bit more action-oriented. It shows a player fighting and dying in various battles, each of which (we presume, due to the respawn notice) is multiplayer. Both of these trailers are good primers for the changes to Mount and Blade, as they showcase both the setting (historical Europe) and mechanics (firearms) alterations.

With Fire and Sword trailer converges three storylines into one

The Polish novel With Fire and Sword is one of the best historic fiction novels ever written, and is both exciting and quite optimistic. Paradox acquired the rights to make a game of it, and the result is Mount and Blade: With Fire and Sword. As shown in this trailer, it has a number of things that the original two games do not: firearms, much better graphics, and (most importantly) a historical setting. Just taking a glance at the map at the beginning shows you Europe as it once was. Here's hoping the three different storylines hold and that the game is just as epic and thrilling as the book it is based on.

The Sims Medieval goes back in time to forge a kingdom

The Sims games have been almost universally sandbox affairs. Make your sim, make your house, and see where things go from there. The newest title in the series, however, wants to make The Sims more of an actual game while maintaining the sandbox nature, and the result is The Sims Medieval. While it looks to bear similarities to The Sims 3, it appears there is more than just relationships and work at play here. Things such as quests, swordfighting, building a kingdom, and magic all appear to play a role, leaving us with plenty of questions as to how they will be implemented.

Prototype 2 trailer seeks out Alex Mercer

While you, as Alex Mercer, played an important role in the devastation of New York in Prototype, Prototype 2 has a different angle. You're to play as a disturbed military man who is seeking out Alex Mercer by using the same bioengineered virus that Alex is infected with. Thus, it actually plays concurrently alongside the first game, and provides a new perspective on the creation of the New York City red zone. Much like all of the trailers to come from the Spike VGAs, this one is especially cinematic but doesn't offer any details on the inner workings of the gory sandbox title.

Test Drive Unlimited 2 puts you up for the night

More Test Drive Unlimited 2 trailers! This one in particular shows the player housing, which makes a return from the first game. it's nothing too fancy, being mostly decoration and such. The houses are very pretty by driving game standards, but not all that great to us. After all, many other games have done a better job of portraying player housing. Granted, such games revolved around actual on-foot mechanics, so it's understandable. In short, there's nothing really on show in this trailer. Just another place to sink your hard-earned cash into as you win race after race in Test Drive Unlimited 2.

Test Drive Unlimited 2 trailer explores tropical racing

As far as trailer go, you can't really get much more standard than this Test Drive Unlimited 2 video. It acts mostly as a way to hype up the world, and it does a fairly effective job. After all, those are some pretty stunning car models, textures, and landscapes. Still, it's completely devoid of gameplay content, and the main draw is how the music (by Deadmau5) fits into the cinematography. If you want something to bedazzle your eyes and ears, this s a good trailer, but for something a little more meaty and interesting, you're better off watching previous trailers.

Mafia 2: Joe's Adventure gets crazy and dangerous

Mafia 2, despite being plagued with inconsistent design, is still receiving DLC. Joe's Adventure is the latest in the add-on campaigns for the open world title, and it's only a week away. To commemorate this, a new trailer has been released for the add-on, and it showcases some of the gameplay players can expect while walking a mile in Joe's shoes. There's nothing particularly new for the Mafia series here, but it does exhibit some great new areas and characters. We love the shootout in the restaurant and the car chase on the ice floes, in particular.

Create trailer breathes life into the inanimate

If this trailer reminds you of The Sims, it seems that it will have accomplished its job. Create is the latest creativity-encouraging game from EA, and it bears a strong resemblance to the Maxis-created series that has treated EA so well. This trailer shows off the very basic gameplay mechanics involved in the titles: click and drag things around to place them. The more advanced things, such as ratings, are not shown even in passing, and the "life" of the scenes is static. Still, if you enjoy building virtual still lives, this trailer should get you pretty pumped!
