Rumor: Call of Duty: World at War perks leaked

According to PlayStation Universe the entire listing of perks for Call of Duty: World at War have leaked online. We're not sure if this list is the real deal but some of it looks legit. If some of the list looks familiar it's because half of the perks are ripped straight from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, where perks were first introduced. Let's just hope if this list turns out to be true people can shy away from only using the Martyrdom perk; it's like they're pooping grenades out there! Call of Duty: World at War hits PC this November in two flavors, a standard edition and a recently revealed Collector's Edition for $70. A full listing of the rumored perks can be found after the jump.

Rumor: Lich King cinematic to debut in Leipzig

While the popular assumption was Blizzard would showcase the Wrath cinematic at BlizzCon in October, word around the camp fire says that the developer will showcase the cinematic as early as this week. Multiple sources are reporting that Blizzard will reveal the Wrath of the Lich King opening cinematic at the Games Convention in Leipzig, Germany, on August 21 at 1PM. While we haven't been able to confirm the cinematic will debut at Leipzig, maybe if we all join hands and hope really hard it will happen!

Ken Levine may be a jerk. So what?

Ken Levine is renowned as one of the most creative designers in the game business. Several of his games, such as System Shock 2 and BioShock, are considered incredible masterpieces of the medium. He's also a pretty outspoken guy. Speaking to vg247, he addressed some of the rumors that some of the original BioShock team left 2K Boston because of him. Here's what he had to say:
"My wife finds it more upsetting than I do. I think the thing that was the most damaging is that it's not something I can respond to. There's no point in it. Look at the BioShock credit list and see how true that rumour is. My personality? I don't know. Maybe I am an asshole. Honestly, the people I respect? Maybe I'm the nicest guy in the world, maybe I'm the biggest asshole. I couldn't tell you. I think people choose to work with me because I can work with them and make a game called BioShock. Do you like to see people say you're inconsiderate? No. When it comes to hiring, does it really matter? No."
In other words, Ken Levine doesn't care what people think. He's out to make good games!

Infinity Ward rumored to be working on a Science Fiction game

CVG reports that an "Infinity Ward insider" let slip that the studio is working on a Sci-Fi game. No specifics about the game were given, apart from the genre. Since Infinity Ward's portfolio exclusively includes Call of Duty games (the first, the second, and Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare), the gaming community is buzzing with speculation that this means that the Call of Duty series is going the space marine route after Call of Duty: World at War.

We're skeptical. Why? Because the insider also said that the Sci-Fi game might be unveiled at E3. It would be pretty silly to unveil Call of Duty: Future Warfare only a month after Call of Duty: World at War, even though Infinity Ward isn't helming World at War itself. So maybe Infinity Ward is finally branching out. You knew they had to get sick of Call of Duty sooner or later, right? More likely yet, maybe the barely-sourced quote is just a false rumor.

As unlikely as it is, though, it's still fun to imagine a Call of Duty game in which your squadmates scream: "They're coming out of the walls! They're coming out of the Goddamn walls!"

New voice for Splinter Cell's Sam Fisher?

The rumor mill is churning full tilt boogie with the news that Michael Ironside may have been replaced as the voice actor for Sam Fisher in Ubisoft's Splinter Cell games. If that's not a "WTF?!?!" moment, we don't know what is.

According to a report from Scuttlebutt, Ubisoft has "quietly axed Michael Ironside from the voice cast of the next Splinter Cell" game, which happens to be Conviction. While the next installment is an Xbox 360-exclusive, this does not bode well for any future Splinter Cell games as one can assume that if he's axed from the next one... he's axed from all of them.

Apparently Scuttlebutt has an insider who told them this, along with the fact that Ironside himself doesn't even know he's been shown the door. Remember, this is still a rumor until something official drops. But you can be sure we'll stay on top of this sickening (if it turns out to be true) story as it unfolds.

New Prince of Persia might have co-op multiplayer after all

Prince of Persia PR guy Chris Easton told website videogaming247 that Ubisoft might reconsider its earlier statement that Prince of Persia won't have co-op multiplayer. Admittedly, Easton didn't suggest that the game definitely will have co-op; he just said that it's being considered.

Speculation about a co-op mode when it was revealed that the will Prince have a companion named Elika who will travel and fight with him through much of the game. It's not a stretch to imagine that Elika could be taken over by a second player. On the other hand, the Prince had a female partner in The Sands of Time as well, and that game was single-player only.

Rumor: Street Fighter IV hitting PC

Rumor has it that Capcom's latest entry in the Street Fighter universe will make its way to next-gen consoles and the PC this winter. According to a story from French gaming site Jeuxvideo, Capcom inadvertently announced the platforms for Street Fighter IV on a site reserved for the press.

It is well-known that PC development is very similar to that of Microsoft's Xbox 360, this coupled with console peripherals utilizing USB technology for input could lend some weight to the rumor.

Unfortunately, Jeuxvideo did not provide a link to the supposed site that broke the news and our various scans of Capcom's press sites have come up empty handed. For now, we're rubber-stamping a big rumor badge on this one until we hear more information from Capcom.

Beyond Good & Evil 2 rumors resurface

Since it was launched to critical acclaim in 2003, Beyond Good & Evil has been at the center of too many sequel rumors to remember. The brainchild of Rayman creator Michel Ancel, the original BG&E was an unfortunate commercial blunder from Ubisoft who saw success the same year with titles like, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell. Nearly five years later, new rumors suggest the sequel could find its way onto a PC and consoles near you.

According to a report on PSLegion, PSM3's 'The Insider' reignited the rumor campfire claiming a BG&E sequel would, "most likely ... see the light of day."

Other PC related rumors mentioned in the article include: a Leisure Suit Larry movie may be in the works, rated PG we're sure and Treyarch has spent two years on Call of Duty 5 instead of the typical nine months. Unless those two years were spent turning into Infinity Ward color us skeptical!

As for the Beyond Good & Evil 2 rumor, our fingers are crossed. Oh, and for those who haven't played Ubisoft's classic third-person adventure game ... shame on you!

Rumor: BioShock team reviving X-Com series

In its most recent issue, The Official Xbox Magazine revived a rumor that 2K Boston (Ken Levine's team, known for its work on BioShock) is working on a game that will reboot the X-Com franchise. Since OXM exclusively covers the Xbox 360, there was no word about a PC version. Nevetheless, X-Com is a PC franchise and since BioShock saw a PC release, we're hoping that we can safely assume the new X-Com will come our way too.

BioShock 2 is under development at the new 2K office in Marin, and that means Levine and friends are working on something unannounced. 2K bought the rights to X-Com last year.

If you're not up on your history, the X-Com games were highly acclaimed and popular tactical combat titles developed by legendary strategy developer MicroProse. MicroProse was originally founded by Sid Meier and also produced Pirates!, Civilization, and Master of Orion.

Blizzard buys Diablo3.com from fans

Hey Diablo fans, did you guys need a really good reason to believe Diablo III was on it's way? Well, if you did (although we imagine you really didn't, but hey isn't nice to have one?) then Blizzard's got you covered, as they just bought Diablo3.com from the longtime owners of the domain who had been running it as a fansite.

There has actually been a countdown timer going for awhile on the fansite and many people were wondering exactly what was going to happen once it finished -- but we're pretty sure that nobody expected this.

Of course this isn't an official announcement or anything like that and Blizzard is quick to say as much. Plus, this isn't the first time Blizzard has bought a domain in the name of protecting possible trademarks. Then again, this could also just be Blizzard's way of throwing everyone off the scent of their next title as well. Ah, the speculation continues.
