Rise of Prussia to be released March 9

Paradox Interactive's extremely busy release schedule for 2010 includes releasing the historical strategy game Rise of Prussia. This week the publisher announced that the game will be made available on March 9 via digital download. It's the first game from developer AGEOD since being acquired by Paradox back in December.

The game itself is set in the 18th century in Europe during the Seven Years' War. Players can take sides, either as the Prussian-British alliance or the opposing side composed of Austria, Russia, France and other nations (in real life the Prussian-British side won the war). Look for 12 battle scenarios, seven year-long campaign scenarios and one massive campaign that spans the entire war of 1756-1763.

Paradox Interactive announces upcoming historical strategy games

While they do release other types of games, Paradox Interactive is perhaps best known for publishing a host of historical-based strategy titles. This week as part of their big press event the company revealed plans for several new games in this genre including some from their recently acquired game developer AGEOD.

The upcoming titles from that particular studio include Rise of Prussia. The game, set during the Seven Years War, is due out in the first quarter of 2010. Another future game from the developer is Vainglory of Nations. The title, which will let players control the most powerful nations on the planet from the mid-19th century to the first decades of the 20th century, is due out in late 2010.

Another game that was announced this week is Magna Mundi, which started out as a mod for Europa Universalis III. The full stand alone game is due in 2011 and will take place across 300 years of history ending at the French Revolution. Finally Paradox announced Commander: Conquest of the Americas, with European nations trying to colonize The New World in the 16th century. That game is due in the third quarter of 2010.
