Sorry PC gamers: No word on Resident Evil 5 DLC for us

Last week Capcom made some announcements concerning future downloadable content for their hit action game Resident Evil 5. The extra content will consist of two extra episodes for the game as well as new costumes and a new Mercenaries Reborn gameplay mode. There will also be a Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition that will ship in 2010 with the original game and all of the DLC in one package.

Sounds pretty awesome, right? However, the DLC and Gold Edition announcements were for the Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles. So what does that mean for the PC version that was just released last September? G4TV put that question to Capcom and got back the sobering response, "No plans for PC at this point." That doesn't entirely shut the door on the subject but at the moment it looks like PC owners of Resident Evil 5 might have to do without all those cool console extras.

Capcom holding Resident Evil 5 PC launch party at PAX 2009

If you are one of the folks who bought tickets to the now sold out Penny Arcade Expo this weekend then you could be one of the lucky few PAX attendees who might get invited to Capcom's Resident Evil 5 PC launch party this Saturday night. Capcom's blog site announced the details this week.

Basically if you are one of the first 250 who show up at Capcom's Resident Evil 5 PC booth at PAX on Friday and Saturday (500 total) you get a invite to the party at the Showbox in Seattle on Saturday night. The party itself (which will have a Tricell theme) will also have giveaways of the game (via digital download codes) and a raffle to win one of five Intel i7 Core processors. And everyone at the party will get a Resident Evil 5 "sand" globe featuring Chris and Sheva that we are sure will show up on eBay.

When you get a PC game that you have been waiting to play for a long time, having it not run well on your rig (or at all for that matter) can be a bummer. Capcom's plans for Comic-Con revealed

We've mentioned that next week's San Diego Comic-Con will have more game-related exhibitors and programming than ever before. This is certainly evident in Capcom's presense at the show. The publisher will hold several panels during the four day event and their booth will show a number of upcoming titles.

They include the PC port of Resident Evil 5 and Dark Void (Lost Planet 2, almost certain to have a PC port, will be there as well). Look for special signing events at the booth (including Dark Void and Battlestar Galactica music composer Bear McCready), giveaways and special Comic-Con only versions of Street Fighter IV game pads and a Dark Void statue.

Resident Evil 5 finally confirmed for PC release

While there have been lots of hints and rumors about a PC release of Resident Evil 5, publisher Capcom has kept saying the survival horror game was only announced for the Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles. Until today, that is. In a new press release, Capcom has finally admitted that a PC port of their best selling game is in the works after all.

While Capcom is still keeping specific release dates on the down low, saying only it's coming " later in the year" they did say there will be online co-op support in the PC version. It will also support Nvidia's GeForce 3D Vision glasses giving gamers who want that sort of thing a way to play the game with 3D effects.

Does new Capcom release schedule reveal PC port of Resident Evil 5?

Capcom has been doing more and more in the PC space, not just with downloadable titles like Bionic Commando Rearmed and the forthcoming Age of Booty but in their main retail games like PC ports of the upcoming Bionic Commando, Dark Void and Street Fighter IV. But is one of their biggest games also coming to the PC?

UK based site MCV says it got a list of all of Capcom's upcoming games for the first quarter of 2009. In that list was Resident Evil 5, the upcoming next version of their long running survival horror series. While Capcom has so far only mentioned Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game, MCV's list also shows a PC version coming as well. Big Download contacted Capcom's US PR rep for comment. However that rep would only say that they have not yet made any announcements about a PC version of the game. That's not a flat out denial, however so we will keep you posted on any further developments.
