Steam has just concluded their big holiday PC game sale but some folks who bought games from the service are having some issues. Specifically, a number of people who bought
Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3 via Steam have been unable to get the online multiplayer features to work in the
EA published RTS game.
Some posters on the Steam forums have said the Steam version doesn't offer CD keys but others have posted a way to find those CD Keys in your system registry. However that doesn't appear to be helping as some players are still getting "invalid CD key" errors when trying to sign onto the online servers.
A post from a Valve rep seems to place the blame not on Steam or EA but rather with the Gamespy matchmaking service, saying, "We are working with our partners to resolve the issue as soon as possible."
Update:
According to a Valve rep's statement, "This issue should now be resolved." Indeed the online posts now indicate the
Red Alert 3 online issues have been fixed.
