Watch video of recent OnLive demo

The OnLive streaming PC game service is still in beta with a release date of sometime in 2010. However the company behind the project has been fairly quiet of late in terms of its progress. However a new video shows off some of the company's plans for the project.

The 45 + minute video was taken at a recent Columbia University event where OnLive's CEO Steve Perlman (who graduated from Columbia) goes into detail about what can be expected from the service. There's no real new info about OnLive that hasn't been talked about before but for those folks who may not know much about the service it's certainly a good way to learn more about OnLive's plans.

GDC 2009: OnLive web site goes live; beta sign-ups begin

The biggest news story (so far) for GDC 2009 is the announcement of the OnLive online gaming service. In case you didn't see our story on Tuesday, basically it claims it will use Internet compression and distant servers to allow PC and Mac gamers to play even high-graphic PC games on low-end systems with no downloading needed. Now the company has launched its official web site which offers up even more info about the service.

OnLive plans to launch a beta test sometime this summer and the site already has a page where people can sign up to hopefully be selected for that test. You of course need to have a broadband connected PC or Mac in order to be selected but there's no actual hardware requirements needed. The service is currently slated to officially launch in winter 2009.
