Singularity trailer defies gravity

Considering how there are there are a lot of games that feature levitation in one form or another (Half-Life 2, BioShock, etc.), the Gravity ability is probably the least impressive power featured in Singularity. However, the game just wouldn't be complete without it. After all, physicists have known for years that gravity has a profound influence on time. Who would have guessed that the opposite would be true in video games? Players will get a chance to tinker with the laws of physics when the game releases on June 29th.

Singularity trailer runs on Impulse power

In Singularity, players will have access to a variety of time manipulation powers including Impulse, which fires a concentrated burst of energy at a target. It doesn't seem all that impressive at first glance, since it just knocks objects out of way, stuns people and causes small creatures to explode; nothing that can't be accomplished with conventional weapons. However, the Impulse power becomes more useful when players confront "different" breeds of creatures, since it shifts them in and out of phase with time and space. It's also a great power to use in combination with other abilities. Players will have a chance to try out the possibilities when the game releases on June 29th.

Singularity trailer gets stuck in a deadlock

The creators of the TMD (Time Manipulation Device) featured in Singularity have come up with a number of great applications for it. We already know about aging and reverting objects and people to fit different situations, and Deadlock takes things even further. Deadlock slows down the speed of anything that's trapped in its bubble. Enemies get frozen in place and projectiles like bullets and missiles slow to a crawl. It remains to be seen whether deadlock can be combined with other abilities to pluck out objects and turn them against foes, but players will have a chance to find out when the game releases on June 29th.

Amazon.com offers up free comic book for Singularity pre-orders

We have already reported that Gamestop customers that pre-order the upcoming Raven Software-Activision first person shooter Singularity will be getting an exclusive multiplayer character to use in the long-in-development game. Now Activision sends word that Amazon.com customers are getting their own pre-order offer for the game.

Specifically people who put their money down for the game at the retail web site will get an exclusive Singularity comic book for free. This is apparently the same comic boo, published by Image Comics, that was first announced back at E3 in June 2009. You can check out the first seven pages of the comic in our new gallery below (Warning: the pages will take a while to download). Singularity itself is due for release June 29.

Singularity trailer offers basic lessons in time manipulation

In Singularity, time isn't just a concept - it's a weapon. By using the time manipulation device, the player can age objects to dust or revert rubble back into its original usable state. The concept also works when applied to living organisms like people, but with added strange effects like rapid mutation. Players will have a chance to bend time to their whims when the game releases on June 29th.

Rumor: Raven Software to develop Call of Duty: Black Ops map packs

Raven Software used to be one of Activision's biggest and most visible internal game developers. However the Madison, Wisconsin-based company has had a rocky history in the past couple of years. In 2009 it released two titles for Activision (X-Men Origins Wolverine and Wolfenstein) that got mediocre reviews and sales. The developer also suffered some layoffs that year that cut down their dev teams from three to two groups. Their upcoming game, the first person shooter Singularity, is due for release on June 29. However Activision had done little to promote the game so far raising questions about their confidence in the game itself.

Now G4TV is reporting through unnamed sources that an unannounced James Bond-based stealth action game that was in development at Raven has been put on hold. However the team that was working on that game has now been tasked with making map packs for Call of Duty: Black Ops, the just announced next game in the shooter series that's being developed by Treyarch. Activision has so far not commented on this rumor.

Singularity cinematic trailer discovers cause and effect

This cinematic trailer for Singularity is a little moodier than most others. As the protagonist of the game, the player will work toward freeing the inhabitants of a Russian test facility from their temporal purgatory - the result of experimenting with time and space. To that end, players will be able to use time as a weapon, to either age objects and people into dust or reconstruct objects to their original form. Too bad the technology is so dangerous, because it can apparently provide an unlimited supply of vodka. Singularity is scheduled to release on June 29th.

Singularity trailer manufactures time and space

This trailer for Singularity showcases the level called Manufacturing, which has some warehouse elements in addition to abandoned machinery. As usual with these types of settings, we're guessing that there will be plenty of explosive barrels to bring back through time and toss around. Players will have a chance to experience it for themselves when the game releases in June.

Singularity confirmed for June 29 release date

Activision has been pretty silent about their long-in-development temporal-themed first person shooter Singularity for a long time. The Raven Software developed game, first announced in July 2008, was supposed to be released last fall but got pushed back to 2010 so it wouldn't conflict with Modern Warfare 2's release.

However, GameTrailers.com has posted up a new Singularity trailer (the first new content we have seen for the game in several months) and at the end it confirms a June 29 release date for the PC and other platforms. Hopefully that means Activision will be promoting and showing off lots more of Singularity in the next couple of months. You can check out the new trailer after the jump.
