Gametap adds two Ubisoft games to subscription service

It's been a few weeks since we have mentioned GameTap's new updates but the subscription-download PC game service has been busy adding titles. This month they have put in two first person shooter games from publisher Ubisoft. One of them is Rainbow Six Vegas, a game that GameTap has been planning to add for quite some time but has held off due to technical issues.

The other Ubisoft FPS is the more recent Far Cry 2, the 2008 open world themed shooter. Both titles can now be played in full when you subscribe to GameTap's monthly service. Unfortunately it looks like GameTap has suspended its weekly free game schedule at least for now.

Tons of Ubisoft games to be added to GameTap

The PC game subscription-download service GameTap has been adding more and more games to its library of titles. A few months ago it announced it would be adding titles from Microsoft and today the company announced a new deal with Ubisoft that renews its current contract and will add over 50 Ubisoft games to its subscription service.

GameTap plans to add titles like the Brothers In Arms series, the Rainbow Six Vegas series, the Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter series, Far Cry 2, Assassin's Creed and more to its monthly subscription service. In addition Ubisoft games will be added to GameTap's digital download store.

When Rainbow Six crashes in Vegas... it crashes hard!

Apparently it doesn't always pay to play in Vegas. At least not if you're playing Rainbow Six Vegas 2 for the PC. When the game crashes (likely due to far too much Vegas styled fun and frivolity) the resulting memory dump can horde up as much as 1,000 megs (1 gig) of hard drive space. That's a whole lot of dumpage. That's Mafia-style dumpage.

The official R6V2 forums are alive with the sound of wailing and gnashing of teeth over the problem. As of this blogging, the forum admins are aware of the problem and have passed along the info to the developers, but a fix has not been forthcoming yet. They of course ask for your kind and benevolent forgiveness. And really... why not? You don't want to go and piss off a bunch of highly trained para-military sorts now do you? Ya, didn't think so.
