Big Download's News Bits & Bytes - October 4

With DC Universe Online being pushed back to early 2011, it looks like this fall's PC game lineup is looking a bit sparse than in previous years. On the other hand the first quarter of 2011 is looking like it will have plenty of new PC game titles.

Mid-week PC game sales hit the net

The PC game download sites are starting up the post-Labor Day sales a little early this week with Direct2Drive, Steam and GamersGate all holding mid-week sales:

Big Download's News Bits & Bytes - September 6

Labor Day is over; now ironically a lot of folks on vacation have to go back to work. Bummer.

Two more Direct2Drive games on sale until 3 pm ET Sunday

Direct2Drive's end of summer sales event keeps on keeping on with its daily price cuts. Today, the PC game download site puts two more titles on the price chopping block. These sales will end at 3 pm Eastern time on Sunday.

One is the recently released puzzle-RPG sequel from developer Infinite Interactive, Puzzle Quest 2. It's price has been cut by $5 to $14.95. The other game on sale is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. You can get the 2009 first person shooter from developer Infinity Ward for "just" $49.95, a $10 discount from its normal price.

Big Download's News Bits & Bytes - August 12

Big day today with the announcement of BioShock Infinite, although we are wondering why Irrational Games has announced a title that won't be released until sometime in 2012. Speaking of which, we are a little disappointed that there was no Doom IV news from QuakeCon today. It's been over two years, id. Throw us a bone here:

This Week In PC Games: August 9-15

Last week was barren as far as new PC games were concerned but this week we have a few new titles that are expected to come out via download. In addition to the titles listed below you can expect the latest Dragon Age Origins DLC, Golems of Amgarrak, to be made available for download on Tuesday.

Victoria 2 - Paradox Interactive's latest internally developed historical PC strategy game is set for release via download and retail stores this Friday. The sequel lets players turn into their own version of Queen Victoria (metaphorically speaking) as they try to expand their European nation into a vast empire in the 19th century.

Puzzle Quest 2 coming to PC August 12 [Update]

Fans of the original Puzzle Quest on the PC have been dying to know when the sequel would be released on our platform. Now we have an answer. According to Steam's web site Puzzle Quest 2 will be made available on their download service on August 17.

Developed once again by Infinite Interactive and published by Namco Bandai, the sequel once again blends the casual puzzle gameplay with some fantasy RPG elements as you can choose from one of four character classes and both genders. The Steam version will include over 50 Steam achievements. You can pre-order Puzzle Quest 2 now on Steam and get 10 percent off its normal $19.99 price.

Update: Looks like Steam has now changed the release date of the game on us. It's now listed as coming out on August 12.

Puzzle Quest 2 confirmed for PC; coming later this summer

We had a feeling this was going to happen but today it's official. The upcoming puzzle-RPG sequel Puzzle Quest 2 has been confirmed for a PC release later this summer by Namco Bandai. The game was first announced for the Nintendo DS and Xbox Live Arcade in November 2009. Shacknews first reported the PC port news and Big Download has confirmed it via chatting with a Namco Bandai PR rep on the phone today.

The sequel to the addictive game developed by Infinite Interactive will be released as a digital download via Namcogames.com and other PC game download services. Pricing for the PC port has yet to be revealed.

Puzzle Quest 2 announced; PC release still to be revealed

Last week GamePro leaked the news that Puzzle Quest 2 was in the works. Today D3Publisher officially announced that they would be handling the release of the puzzle-RPG game for developer Infinite Interactive. The game is due for release in the spring of 2010 but at the moment the only announced platforms are for the Nintendo DS console and the Xbox 360 via Xbox Live Arcade.

So what about a PC version? We contacted D3Publisher's PR rep who replied back, "At the moment we have announced Puzzle Quest 2 will be on XBLA and DS. We are possibly looking at other platforms/skus but no decision has been made at this time." We are betting that they will make the right decision and bring the sequel to this ground-breaking addictive game to our hard drive sometime in 2010.

Puzzle Quest 2 revealed; details coming soon

When we reviewed the new Square Enix-Popcap fantasy RPG-puzzle game Gyromancer recently we mentioned that the game that it most closely resembled, the first Puzzle Quest title from developer Infinite Interactive "was released over three years ago but offers a significantly richer experience and costs less than Gyromancer." Now comes word that Infinite Interactive is indeed working on Puzzle Quest 2, the first true sequel to that unique genre-bending title.

The first word on the game comes from GamePro's web site who states that their January 2010 print magazine issue (due in newstands in December) will have the first detailed preview of the game. However it showed off the lone screenshot that you see above as a teaser. Infinite Interactive has made several puzzle-style games since the original Puzzle Quest, including the sci-fi themed Puzzle Quest: Galactrix, but will the return to the game that started it all for them be worth the wait?
