Gran Turismo 5 Remote Races control coming to PC web browsers in early February

Late in 2010 word got out that Polyphony Digital's recent PS3 racing sim game Gran Turismo 5 would allow PC players to remotely control the B-Spec races from a PC. This week a "tweet" from series head Kazunori Yamauchi confirms that the Remote Races feature will indeed be coming sometime in early February.

This feature will let PS3 owners of the game control the cars in B-spec mode via the game's official PC web site. B-spec mode doesn't let players control the car directly but they can play the role of a racing crew chief as he orders the AI driver to pass other drivers, ordering the driver to make pit stops and more.

Portal 2 PC could support cross-platform multiplayer with PS3 counterpart

If you are wondering why we didn't report on Valve's "surprise" for Portal 2 this past E3 2010 week, it's because the surprise didn't have anything to do with the PC version. Instead Valve revealed that the puzzle-shooter sequel would be released for the PS3 and that it would be the first console game to support Valve's Steamworks tools.

Portal 2 is also scheduled to have a two player co-op campaign that will be separate from the regular single player campaign. What's interesting about this is that, according to an article on The Kartel web site, Valve is aiming to allow PS3 and PC gamers to play the co-op mode together online thanks to the Steamworks support. We should find out for sure if this is possible when the game is released in 2011.

CES 2010: Sony confirms Playstation Network movies coming to PCs

Earlier this week word came from CES that Sony was going to extend their PlayStation Network content to other devices including laptops. Now comes word via Shacknews on the specifics of the deal. Starting in February any PC will be able to access the many movies that are available to download and purchase on the network (just standard definition versions, unfortunately).

If you already have a PlayStation Network account with your PlayStation 3 console you will be able to use the same account to access the network on the PC. Right now, there doesn't appear to be any plans to offer downloadable PS3 games and demos for PC owners but you have to think that this initial move into the PC space could be a Trojan Horse move by Sony to offer more of their PlayStation Network content in the future for PC owners.

CES 2010: Sony Playstation content coming to PC laptops?

Could you be playing PS3 downloadable games on a laptop soon? That's what Sony seemed to be hinting at during its CES 2010 press conference on Wednesday. Our sister site Engadget reports that Sony wants to extend the reach of its Playstation Network to a host of other devices including laptops.

There are no other details on how this will work out or when it will become available but we suspect that if this does go through the laptop support will be strictly for Sony's Vaio series of laptops. Still, the possibility of playing downloadable PS3 games from a laptop PC is certainly an intriguing one.

This application allows users to turn their computers into dedicated hosts for The Lord of the Rings: Conquest online multiplayer. One version hosts games for the PC release of the game, while the other allows the PC host PS3 games. In an unrelated release, a new Conquest patch updates the game to v1.1, which fixes a number of bugs and gameplay issues.

Rumor: Play console games on the PC?

If you want to play console games on a PC you could turn a console into a PC (such as in the above picture from Regal Hardware) Now, a once secret online marketing survey from a company called Intellisponse has been uncovered by the forum folks over at NeoGAF. Among the products supposedly revealed in this survey is something called "Trioxide". What is it? Well according to the leak it's a product that will allow PCs to play PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii game disks.

There's not much else on the forum post about this supposed product, saying only that the games will require the original console controllers to be played on the PC as well. That's pretty much it; no pricing, no word on who the company behind this reported project is nor a release date. Frankly, even if such a product actually existed (which we seriously doubt) we think Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony would do everything in their legal power to stop this product from ever reaching fruition. Stay tuned . . . (By the way, there is an arsenic trioxide that is used as a cancer medication)
