The Writer's Guild of America has been offering an annual award for the past few years for "outstanding achievement in videogame writing." This year is no exception as the combined East and West versions of the guild (who also honor TV and movie writers) have offered up their nominees for the 2010 edition of the award.

Nominated this year are five games that either have or will come out for the PC: Fallout New Vegas, Star Wars The Force Unleashed 2, Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, Prince of Persia The Forgotten Sands and Singularity (God of War III was the other nominee). The winner will be announced on February 5 in ceremonies held in both Los Angeles and New York. You can check out the full list of nominees and the writers credited with the games after the jump:

Ubisoft is continuing to put some downloadable PC games on the price chopping block this weekend. Today at the publisher's online store front it has the PC port of the recent "sort of a movie game but not really" Prince of Persia The Forgotten Sands on sale for just $5, a 75 percent savings. Also on sale is Shawn White Skateboarding. The sports game, released just a month ago, is on sale in PC download form for just $9.99 at the online store.

Meanwhile the Ubiworkshop.com web site continues its mysterious ways with a t-shirt that has an image of a previously unseen character. The site doesn't specify where the characters is from but you can buy the t-shirt for $20. The shirt will be limited and will only be sold until December 6.

Unless something pops up that's out of the blue there's only one commercial PC game that's due to be released this week. In addition to that game you can expect to see the second of four 99 cent weekly map packs for Defense Grid: The Awakening to be released this week.

Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands: After being released for consoles in May, developer-publisher Ubisoft finally releases the PC port of their latest game in the Prince of Persia action-adventure series. This title, which is also a (kind of) tie in with the recent movie, is set in between The Sands of Time and The Warrior Within.

The PC port of Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands is due for release on Jun 8 and now publisher Ubisoft has announced plans for a digital deluxe version of the latest game in the long running action game series. The deluxe edition costs $59.99 and has two exclusive player skins, a new map and the game's soundtrack.

If you purchase the deluxe edition via Steam you also get a free download copy of Ubisoft's first game in the series Prince of Persia The Sands of Time. Additionally, people who decide to pre-order either the digital deluxe version or the regular $49.99 version will get Prince of Persia: The Warrior Within as a free download.

Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands is set to hit retail stores tomorrow. This trailer gives a brief look at some of the time bending gameplay.

Before the Prince of Persia game series turned into an action-adventure movie, it began as a 2D platformer with lots of traps and puzzles. Now as the new game in the series, The Forgotten Sands, is getting ready for its release for the PC on June 8, publisher Ubisoft has launched a web-based Flash game that looks and plays an awful lot like the original.

The game has the Prince go through a number of levels. He is always running which means you will have to be quick to avoid spikes, flames and other traps. Fear not, however: there is a feature that lets you reverse time to try again just like the more recent Prince of Persia game titles.

This intro cinematic for Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands should get fans excited for the game's release. The story fills in the time in between Sands of Time and The Warrior Within, and players will have the power to freeze time and use the elements to aid them in their quest. Gamers won't have to wait long to get into the time bending, free running, action since it releases on May 18th.

In this video, the developers working on Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands runs down many of the fantastic gameplay features that will be included. Forgotten Sands covers the seven year time span between The Sands of Time and The Warrior Within. Some of the more spectacular gameplay elements include manipulating elements like fire and water. Waterfalls can be frozen in time to create temporary walls and columns to leap from. The number of simultaneous enemies have also been significantly increased. So the big question is, how long will it be before this spin-off leads to a complete remake of Sands of Time?

Ubisoft certainly wants the Prince of Persia movie to be successful if only to help promote their latest game in the long running action series, Prince of Persia The Forgotten Sands. Now Eurogamer reports that the PC version of the title has been pushed back to June, away from its console counterparts.

The report gives no reason for the delay but it's certainly not the first time that the release of a PC port of an Ubisoft published multiplatform game has been pushed back until after the console ports have been released. Of course with the current DRM set up for all upcoming Ubisoft games, many PC games will likely bypass this title anyway.

Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands has been confirmed for a PC release, and will take players back to the Prince from the previous trilogy, covering events that occur between The Sands of Time and The Warrior Within. So, if you're interested in more freerunning, time warping action, check out this game out when it releases in May 2010.
