Prince of Persia gameplay video shows style, partner

Ubisoft has released a new Prince of Persia gameplay trailer demonstrating many of the slick moves the Prince will have in his repertoire. The trailer also shows off the stylized aesthetics featured in the impending series rebirth, as well as the Prince's female partner, who has quite a few tricks of her own.

Prince of Persia will be released for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC later this fall.

New Prince of Persia might have co-op multiplayer after all

Prince of Persia PR guy Chris Easton told website videogaming247 that Ubisoft might reconsider its earlier statement that Prince of Persia won't have co-op multiplayer. Admittedly, Easton didn't suggest that the game definitely will have co-op; he just said that it's being considered.

Speculation about a co-op mode when it was revealed that the will Prince have a companion named Elika who will travel and fight with him through much of the game. It's not a stretch to imagine that Elika could be taken over by a second player. On the other hand, the Prince had a female partner in The Sands of Time as well, and that game was single-player only.

Potentially pretty Prince of Persia previewed

Following hot on the news of a new Prince of Persia, Joypad (a French gaming magazine) has managed to get the first preview of the game. And man, it reveals a lot about the upcoming title.

According to Jean-Christophe Guyot, the game's creative director, the new Prince of Persia aims to be much more oriented towards a vibrant artistic style than the original Sands of Time trilogy. As he put it, "1001 Nights" instead of "Arabian Nights".

It's also much less realistic, fitting more in line with Zelda or ICO rather than it's previous incarnations. However, it will not feature the Sands of Time anymore, although it is hinted that something else will take their role within the game.

With a bigger focus on allowing the player to tackle the challenges in whichever order they wish as well as adding more personality to the bosses, the new Prince of Persia aims to be an excellent addition to the franchise's stable of already excellent games.
