Playstation Move PC support is official ... sort of

playstation move
A little while ago Microsoft announced that its Kinect motion controller-camera for the Xbox 360 would soon get an official PC SDK. Now Sony has announced that it will offer an SDK for its Playstation Move motion controller that will allow anyone to make applications for the controller with a PC as one of its development tools.

Reveals on Sony's official Playstation blog site, the software application that will be released for this task is called Move.Me. The software resides on a Playstation 3 console and developers can export data to a PC in order to develop apps that will use the Playstation Move controller. It's not clear if the apps that are developed on the PC can actually use them natively. The software is being release as is to primarily academics, researchers, and hobbyists.

God of War PC case mod is EXTREME!

We love going to QuakeCon every year. Not just for the tournaments or the John Carmack keynotes or the QuakeCon girls but the awesome custom PC case mods that folks make, display and even use to play PC games. But we have to admit none of the QuakeCon PC case mods, even the Fallout 3 one we saw a couple of years ago, compares to the one you see above.

This Kratos case mod comes from a LAN event in Brazil and, well, it's truly a work or art. We will ignore the fact that the God of War series is a Playstation exclusive. We say, "Bravo" to the creator of this case mod. QuakeCon 2010 attendees, the ball is in your court to top this. Good luck. You can check out a brief video of the case mod from other angles after the jump.

CES 2010: Sony confirms Playstation Network movies coming to PCs

Earlier this week word came from CES that Sony was going to extend their PlayStation Network content to other devices including laptops. Now comes word via Shacknews on the specifics of the deal. Starting in February any PC will be able to access the many movies that are available to download and purchase on the network (just standard definition versions, unfortunately).

If you already have a PlayStation Network account with your PlayStation 3 console you will be able to use the same account to access the network on the PC. Right now, there doesn't appear to be any plans to offer downloadable PS3 games and demos for PC owners but you have to think that this initial move into the PC space could be a Trojan Horse move by Sony to offer more of their PlayStation Network content in the future for PC owners.

CES 2010: Sony Playstation content coming to PC laptops?

Could you be playing PS3 downloadable games on a laptop soon? That's what Sony seemed to be hinting at during its CES 2010 press conference on Wednesday. Our sister site Engadget reports that Sony wants to extend the reach of its Playstation Network to a host of other devices including laptops.

There are no other details on how this will work out or when it will become available but we suspect that if this does go through the laptop support will be strictly for Sony's Vaio series of laptops. Still, the possibility of playing downloadable PS3 games from a laptop PC is certainly an intriguing one.
