Plain Sight gets new update and $2 sale on Steam

Developer Beatnik Games produced a cool little multiplayer action game earlier this year with Plain Sight. The game's been out for a little while now but today the dev team has released a new update via Steam that actually changes the gameplay of the title. From now on Plain Sight will let players collect stars which then can be used to purchase power-ups. You can check out a list of all the power-ups and their abilities at the game's official wiki sight.

And if that were not enough, it's extremely easy at the moment to buy a copy of the game as Steam has lowered the price of Plain Sight to just $2, an 80 percent decrease, from now until Thursday. The four pack deal (buy a copy for yourself and give three codes to your friends) has also been lowered to a measly $6.

Plain Sight update adds new map and fixes bugs

One of the more unique downloadable only games released last week was Plain Sight. You can check out what we though about the multiplayer robot ninja action title from developer Beatnik Games in our recent review. Now the title has received its first major update via Steam and it's got more than just bug fixes.

The big new addition is a new free multiplayer map, which you can see above. It seems to mix up the pirate and space ship genres quite well. There are also two new Steam achievements added in the patch and some graphical bugs in some Intel and Nvidia 7000 chips have been corrected. Finally you can now run several dedicated servers for the game on the same machine.

Review: Plain Sight

Plain Sight features robot ninjas battling each other to an explosive climax. For many gamers, the premise alone makes the game worth picking up. The low price makes for a great incentive too. Yet, although the game is fun and wonderfully fast paced, it could benefit from a little more fine tuning.

Plain Sight launches as scheduled; PC upgrade plans announced

As promised, indie developer Beatnik Games has released the final version of their robot-themed multiplayer shooter Plain Sight via Steam and other download sites after a long beta period. In fact Steam offers up their latest four-pack deal for Plain Sight where you can purchase four downloadable copies of the game for the price of three.

And what about the future for the $9.99 game. Rock Paper Shotgun chatted with Beatnik's Robin Lacey about their plans. Lacey states, " . . . We have tons of stuff we're waiting to add" including a map importer for the game. Next year the developer will release a PS3 port for the game using a new engine that will be accompanied by a " super cheap upgrade for PC users". Plain Sight might just show up for Macs as well.
