GoGamer.com puts some recent PC titles on sale

Normally GoGamer.com's 48 Hour Madness weekend sales are for older PC games that have been released for a year or even more. Not this weekend, however. The online mail-order retailer has put in some more recently released PC games on the price cutting block this time.

For this weekend only GoGamer.com offers up the PC versions of Rise of the Argonauts and Lord of the Rings: Conquest for $24.90. They have also put Perimeter 2 and Saints Row 2 on sale for $19.90 and Pirates of the Burning Sea and Everquest II: Rise of Kunark can be bought for just $9.90. Again these bargains are for this weekend only.

Perimeter 2 to be published in January by Strategy First

We've been following the development of Perimeter 2 for some time now and this week we learned that Strategy First has landed the US publishing rights to the sci-fi RTS sequel. The game will be released on January 10 by the publisher and will be priced at $29.99 in both boxed and download versions.

Developed once again by KDV Games, Perimeter 2 continues the wild gameplay element of units that morph and even merge to become new larger units along with deformation of the game's level terrain. New RPG-lite elements have also been added to the sequel. It should be interesting to see if Perimeter 2 gets more of a mainstream audience than the original who perhaps wasn't used to the first game's unique features.

Perimeter 2 announced

One of the most unusual RTS games ever released was K-D Labs' Perimeter. The sci-fi themed game features such features as deformation of the game's level terrain and the ability for small units to literally merge together to form a new and larger unit. Now K-D Labs has officially announced plans for a full sequel, called Perimeter 2: New Earth.

Due for release sometime this fall, the developer has already launched its official web site with lots of info, screenshots and a trailer for the game (while the Flash based trailer works there's some kind of bug in the downloadable version of the trailer). The merging of units is back as a feature as is the weird art design, some new RPG-lite elements and more. There's no word yet on who will be publishing the sequel (Codemasters handled the duties for the original game).
