Supreme Commander 2 developer video finds its way using Flowfield technology
There are few things as frustrating for an RTS gamer than units that constantly get stuck on things, lose their way, or take a long time to get where they need to go. The problem is even more pronounced in games like Supreme Commander, where there are tons of individual units, all greatly varying in size, moving around a gigantic battlefield. The Flowfield pathfinding technology, developed by Gas Powered Games specifically for Supreme Commander 2, looks like it does wonders for addressing this issue. Although some might find this video a little techy, the programming is clearly impressive and we're interested in seeing it utilized in future games.
Supreme Commander 2 releases on March 2nd, and pre-loading is already available on Steam. Players can also put Flowfield to work now with the playable demo, also available on Steam.
