Independence War 2 now available on GoG.com

A little while ago, GoG.com added the first Independence War game to its DRM-free PC game download site. Today GoG.com has added the game's 2001 released sequel, Independence War 2: Edge of Chaos, to its library of classic PC game titles.

The space simulation sequel comes once again from the now defunct developer Particle Systems and publisher Atari. The game, set 100 years after the first title, has you piloting not a space naval vessel but a pirate craft. However the sequel retains the original's more realistic flight model. You can purchase and download Independence War 2 now for $5.99.

Independence War Deluxe added to GoG.com

It's a game that has been somewhat forgotten over the years but today the DRM-free PC gaming web site GoG.com is bringing back one of the best space simulation games ever released for the PC. It's Independence War Deluxe, the title from the now defunct UK-based developer Particle Systems.

The game was first released way back in 1997 in Europe as I-War, but got its name changed to Independence War when it was released in the US in 1998. GoG.com's version contains both the original game and its expansion pack Defiance. The title itself stands out thanks to its use of the simulation of real world physics that controlled the ships. It was also one of the first games to embrace 3D acceleration via 3Dfx's Glide API. You can get the game from GoG.com now for $5.99.
