Paradox CEO pledges to "make this right" on Magicka bugs [Update]

The fantasy action-RPG Magicka was released via download earlier this week and while its publisher Paradox Interactive announced that the game had sold over 30,000 copies in its first day (not bad for a download only PC exclusive game that got very little advanced hype) players have had to deal with some bug issues, particularly with playing the game online in co-op mode.

Ars Technica chatted with Paradox's CEO Fredrik Wester who states that they had tested the game before it was released, " ... through two rounds of external QA, one of them dedicated to co-op multiplayer, including hot seat, LAN, and over the Internet." However Wester added, "The development team is working around the clock and we will get this fixed. We will make this right." The game has already received three patches via Steam since it was released on Tuesday.

Update: The fourth patch for the game has now been released on Steam.

Plans for new Conan game in the works

Robert E. Howard's fantasy creation Conan the Barbarian is getting ready to make yet another game appearance. Today the owners of the Conan property, Paradox Entertainment (not to be confused with Paradox Interactive) announced plans to spearhead the development of a new game based on the character. The company will work with talent agency Digital Development Management who will manage whatever game developer and publisher will eventually create the game

Funcom, of course, launched the MMO Age of Conan over two years ago. THQ released a console action game based on the property back in 2007 to average reviews and poor sales. Before that developer Cauldron released an action-adventure game based on Conan in 2004 for the PC but it was released primarily for Europe.

Mutant Chronicles: Doomtrooper online game announced

One of the most popular collectible card games is getting an online PC game makeover. Paradox Interactive announced today that it will be publishing a game based on Mutant Chronicles Doomtrooper. The collectible card game is a spin-off of the Mutant Chronicles sci-fi themed pen-and-paper RPG series.

Paradox Interactive secured the rights to the game from its current owners Paradox Entertainment. Of course, Paradox Interactive was once a part of Paradox Entertainment before being spun off into a separate company a number of years ago. Other than the fact that this new game will be part of the company's online Paradox Connect service details of the Mutant Chronicles Doomtrooper game have yet to be revealed.
